Weekly Video RoundupPosted on Jan 19, 2007
This week, our collection of Truthdig-flavored videos includes a clever political satire of lonelygirl15; a gripping documentary on Saddam Hussein’s American backers; and everyday U.S. citizens exposed at their most clueless.
Check out the video that’s burning up the progressive blogosphere: It’s a clever satire from the folks who brought you the hilarious Rush Limbaugh - Michael J. Fox spoof. Watch it:
No. 2. Saddam’s American Allies Former “60 Minutes” producer and author Barry Lando connects the dots between Saddam Hussein and his American backers in this powerful documentary.

No. 3. Barack Obama: Why I Want to Be President Democratic Illinois Sen. (and relative political newcomer) Barack Obama on Tuesday announced the formation of a presidential exploratory committee. In this video, he explains his motivations.
Watch it:
No. 4. Bush: Iraqis “Owe Us Gratitude” In a “60 Minutes” interview, the president dismissed the suggestion that America owes Iraq an apology for not securing the country after the invasion, saying instead that Iraqis owe America “a huge debt of gratitude” for our efforts.
No. 5. Are Americans Ignorant? This Aussie TV spot reminds us that not only do the finer points of public policy debates go over some people’s heads, but many Americans don’t even know the major religion of Israel; nor, for that matter, do they know how many sides a triangle has. Oy vey. Watch it:
No. 6. Susan McDougal: The Woman Who Wouldn’t Talk When Susan McDougal refused to implicate the Clintons in the Whitewater fiasco, she was thrown in prison, left alone with murderers and her own stubborn dignity. Savaged by Republicans and abandoned by Democrats, she would emerge from that dark chapter of American history a hero.
Part One: The Whitewater Scandal
Part Two: “Why Didn’t You Go Along With It?”
Part Three: Jail
Part Four: Real Faith
Part Five: Epilogue

Susan’s interview displays more faith and honesty than anything I have seen in years. Her statements ring true and the fact she still demonstrates love and understanding for others shows her beauty.
Report thisI don’t know that I would have the strength, honor and dignity she has displayed under circumstances as cruel.
The condition of our country at this point in it’s history is beyond anything words can describe. Many people think they can do nothing about it and they may be right but unless we all try in our own small way; we are worse than those repsonsible for the conditions facing us. We owe it to ourselves and those who come after us.

Great Interview of Ms. Mcdougal!
Unfortunately some of the Flash version are not working. On the ones that do work, one cannot stop and rewind or replay a short section, at the end for example, without playing the whole video over again.
I think that the QuicTime version is far better since you can do so.

Thank you Susan for your integrity and your courage-- the courage you had to stand up for what was right early on and the courage to tell your story, in its entirety, now. In your defense of civil liberty, you have established yourself as a true patriot and a hero.

Chris Hedges’ attack on fundamentalist Christians, the bedrock of America , and the sole entity upon which any hopes of our survival depends.... is irrational and wrong.
I would suppose that, as a parallel thought, he is worried about the rights of Muslim/Arab extremists in the country.
I have done extensive clinical research on people who think like Chris Hedges and have found that many of them are sissies, cowards, and queers.
May the God of Fundamentalist Christians, the only true God, bless America and save it from idiot queers like Chris Hedges.

Re: The Susan McDougal interview.
Thank you so much. I never knew.... it was as bad as that.
It would be wonderful to have a transcript of the interview on the Web—indexable and linkable.
Thanks again,
