Colbert and O'Reilly
Crooks and Liars

Stephen Colbert appeared on “The O’Reilly Factor” on Thursday and had this to say to his inspiration: “You know what I hate about people who criticize you? They criticize what you say, but they never give you credit for how loud you say it.”

I almost lost bladder control at the end of BOR’s appearance on the Colbert Report.  One of the funniest lines I’ve heard from Colbert was when one of the models for his character, BOR, claimed he’s actually a softie beneath that pancake makeup when Colbert was trying to encourage BOR to fight Sean Hannity.

BOR: I’m not a tough guy.  This is all an act....I’m an act.
SC: You’re breaking my heart.
BOR: I’m sensitive...I’m....
SC: If you’re an act, what am I!?

re:  #48895

Jon B, 80% of Ireland (The Republic of Ireland) is free from British rule, and there isn’t a single orangeman anywhere near Dublin.

If your looking for a comic to save you from Cheney and the other neocons, don’t hold your breath. This huge publicity stunt accomplished one thing to get you SHEEP, to watch and listen to the over rated Colbert crack some mild sarcasm, hold up a picture of O’Reilly in leather..ewwwwww, how edgy and arranging the “theft” of Fox’s microwave, WITH THE PERMISSION FROM FOX EXECUTIVES.

I’m done with Colbert, always in character, always facetious, but it did accomplish one thing, it gave a boost to O’Reilly’s ratings.

It is hard to ignore O’Reilly’s ethnic bashing because there are enough racism in this country.
On the other hand, one has to deal with ethnic bashing headon. In this connection and if we all go back to where we and our ancestors came from, then Cobert would go back to france, an independent and sovereign state. The same can’t be said about Ireland, which remains an english colony. Orangeman continues their annual in-your-face parade in dublin and british troops continues to make their incursions to ireland at will.

I would suggest O’Reilly to direct his energy to the Ireland’s de facto independence.

I am glad Cobert didn’t retaliate. He’s far superior intellectually than the O’Reilly’s non-factor.

Cheers.

In fairness, O’Reilly has some talent as a ‘talking head’ on television but Colbert has taken that talent to a higher level and mixed it with honesty and truth.

Perhaps and a meeting of the minds on television of the like’s of Bush, Rush, or Geraldo with Larry King as the host is in order.  At the end of that show, we could probably all enjoy seeing them have a food fight. Now that would be a much more balanced situation than watching O’Reilly try to compete with Colbert.

It was hardly a fair fight.  Colbert has at least 50 IQ points on Bill.  What I did find ironic was that the Fox talking heads that appeared later to criticize Stewart and Colbert ("only watched by pot-smoking kids") kept referring to their shows as IRONY and apparently don’t understand the difference between irony and SATIRE.

Kudos to Colbert for the “sexual predator” line.  The man is brilliant.

Colbert bases his material on O’Reilly’s material; obviously O’Reilly believes that if you say something loud enough people will believe it!

I can’t wait till all these liars are in the gutter sodden wih regret and suicidal at their behavior in this one life, where their greed led them to shamefully push these hateful wars against the innocent, all for personal gain and aggrandizement. People as brave as Colbert and Stewart are the only ones who hasten the chastisement of these creeps, while the media, compliant politicos and war profiteers silently and aggresively approve the agenda.

In all fairness Bill O’Lielly should not be squaring off with America’s contemporary Martin Luther King--Stephen Colbert. First, O’Lielly has no talent so it wasn’t a fair fight.  Secondly, the only man in America, Stephen aka MLK to get as close to Dubya and skewer him at the White House Correspondent’s dinner last year and the best you can come up with is how Stephen pronounces Colbert? Hello? oh and Steve’s European ancestry? who here can claim Native American status? Italian, French, Greek, Irish who cares? O’Leilly must not be a follower of Christ teachings, Galatians 3:28 we are all one.  Obviously, O’Leilly plays the French card as anyone would with no talent would have to.  A great big yawn.

Was it a genealogy show or O’Reilly has nothing to pick on other than Cobert’s ethnicity? If there is trashy show, then O’reilly is the factor.

My goodness.

The next-day stories on the Colbert-O’Reilly clash Thursday night left out the nut of the whole exquisite exchange.

It left the blustering O’Reilly dumb-founded. Here was the exchange I wanted to read in my AP story, which occured as O’Reilly sat down with a jab about John Stewart:

Colbert: “I’ve got a restraining order against him. The man is a sexual predator. That’s why I left.’’

The one sentence went to the core of O’Reilly’s existence - his over-bearing hypocrisy.

It was O’Reilly the sexual predator, who was sued by a former staffer for crude sexual advances to her. The case was later dropped.

And with that one comment by Colbert, it shoved O’Reilly’s self-rightious ass into his seat, squirming with nothing to say and looking for an exit.

Timid newspapers reports did offer O’Reilly’s response a few minutes later, in which he finally found a voice for Colbert’s slander.

O’Reilly: “This was a huge mistake, me coming on here.’’

O’Reilly’s hanging was exquisitely done by a masterful executed wit - Colbert’s.
