Limbaugh and Coulter
Media Matters

Media Matters has collected, stomached and ranked the 11 most outrageous conservative comments of 2006, including Rush Limbaugh blaming America’s obesity crisis on the left and Ann Coulter calling Al Gore a “total fag.”

Media Matters:

How extreme were conservative commentators in their remarks this year? How about calls to nuke the Middle East and an allegation that a “gay ... mafia” used the congressional page program as its own “personal preserve.” Right-wing rhetoric documented by Media Matters for America included the nonsensical (including Rush Limbaugh’s claim that America’s “obesity crisis” is caused by, among other things, our failure to “teach [the poor] how to butcher a—slaughter a cow to get the butter, we gave them the butter”), the offensive (such as right-wing pundit Debbie Schlussel’s question about “Barack Hussein Obama”: is he “a man we want as President when we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam? Where will his loyalties be?”), and the simply bizarre (such as William A. Donohue’s claim that some Hollywood stars would “sodomize their own mother in a movie”). Since there were so many outrageous statements, we included a list of honorable mentions along with the top 11, which, if not for Ann Coulter, we might have limited to 10.

Rush Limbaugh’s career has proven that if someone tells a lie often enough and loud enough, people are going to believe it!  If George Orwell were alive today, he would update his novel “1984” to “2007”.

Hondo,

Christianity is a cancer on humanity, and you, just like your fascist putative President, G.W. Bush, are a metastatic, malignant tumor,  The sooner the false religion, Christianity, is dumped upon the scrapheap of mythology, where it belongs, the better the world will be for it.

Conservatism is the product of ignorance, stupidity and cowardice.  Fear, superstition, paranoia and hate are the conservative stocks in trade.  That’s why Christianity and conservatism are so fundamentally compatible.

A conservative Christian is a sub-human ape lacking in the capacity for reason or logic . . . a monkey, a genetic defective, with no hope of he or his offspring ever evolving into real men.

[Somehow, I suspect Hondo will steal my material and it will end up on his website].

How would Ann describe her own sexuality, given that she has been blessed with an Adams Apple and a very puny boy body.
Maybe sexuality doesn’t count if you’re the som of Lucifer?

I find the Coulter quote to be completely in line wiyh things she says. S)(he always professes hatred :plus s)he was not very well know outside of neoCON cicles when s)he made that statement.  s)he always says outrageous things off the cuff; I have always felt s)he is playing a character which s)he developed to become rich and famous knowing that a majority of the neoCONs love insane vitriolic speech.
Right-wing talk show talk is so uninpired and devoid of imagination or originality. Anyone could do it as long as they have some charisma. It is akin to being a TV evangelist.

Hey Hondo! (Comment #44610)

Your statement, “Liberalism is a cancer, an insidious disease. It renders the poor victim completely unable to differentiate between right and wrong, fact and fiction, good and evil, or reality and fantasy,” sounds vaguely familiar ...

Oh yeh, I have it now!

Isn’t that a quote from Benito Mussolini’s Definition of Fascism? (published in 1932)

Is that where you lifted it, or did you just paraphrase?

Irregardless, now that we know your choice of reading material, you stand revealed for what you are.

Thanks.

BTW, just my observation, but seems to me if you truly study the life of Christ you will come to realize he was very “liberal” for heavens sake!

You know, it’s never to late to change. And we liberals being uh, well liberal will always be here for you darlin.

Happy New Year!

Arguably the most outrageous comment by Rush in ‘06 was his post election revelation of what most visitors to this web site have always known was true.  That Rush—the most influential commentator in America—has been misinforming his audience:

“The way I feel is this: I feel liberated, and I’m going to tell you as plainly as I can why. I no longer am going to have to carry the water for people who I don’t think deserve having their water carried. Now, you might say, “Well, why have you been doing it?” Because the stakes are high! Even though the Republican Party let us down, to me they represent a far better future for my beliefs and therefore the country’s than the Democrat [sic] Party does and liberalism…

I’m a radio guy! I understand what this program has become in America and I understand the leadership position it has. I was doing what I thought best, but at this point, people who don’t deserve to have their water carried, or have themselves explained as they would like to say things but somehow aren’t able to? I’m not under that kind of pressure.”
Am I making myself clear on this, Mr. Snerdley? (interruption) No, I’m not lying. Snerdley’s (Rush’s producer) concerned. I’ve not lied about anything I’ve said. Let me try this a different way. (sigh) I’m going to have to think about this. I tried to make it as clear as I can. “
(Rush’s remarks are from his show on 11/08/06 beginning at 11:14 CST)

I would like to add the following comment to the list of 11 you already have:

“Liberalism is a cancer, an insideous disease. It renders the poor victim completely unable to differentiate between right and wrong, fact and fiction, good and evil, or reality and fantasy. This is the reason why most liberals have taken the side of the Islamofascist terrorists in America’s war on terror. Liberals are an insane lot who believe that it is patriotic to commit treason.”——-Hondo from christianconservatives.blogspot.com

I heard Ann Coulter on live television saying that Bill Clinton is gay, and that “Al Gore is a real fag.”  Some talk shows picked this up the next day, but it never went much further because of a lack of interest.  Liberals, in general, don’t care one way or the other about people’s sexuality.  We feel there are more important subjects to discuss - such as THE WAR.

The problem is not that these “pundits” have opinions… the problem is that they have sponsors.

Corporate Advertisers keep these people in the spotlight for the sole purpose of bludgeoning Democrats.

The Sponsors don’t give a hoot about who’s gay and who’s coddling the terrorists. But they’ll use these issues to keep Democrats out of Congress, to insure that taxes and regulations don’t get in the way of profits.

The real tragedy of right-wing talk radio is that they’ve destroyed political dicourse between ordinary citizens. Nobody is willing to talk about politics at the office or over the back fence anymore because these media clowns have so completely poisoned the atmosphere.

And because we no longer form our political opinions based on what our neighbors are saying, that just increases the influence of radio and television… very convenient, eh?

There are only a few shows - like Left Right & Center on KCRW - where liberals and conservatives demonstrate how to disagree each other with some civility.

Let’s write to Rush’s sponsors and tell them we want to hear more debate - and less drama.

Free speech doesn’t include hate speech.

The real problem here is not that they say these things, but that they actually begin to or really do believe them!
Watch the remarks really get out of hand once the new congress takes over…..the BS will really hit the proverbial fan.

Hey what about the wack job prof that said all whites should be exterminated? Not outrageous enough, I guess.  Naaah, profs can say anything. It’s called freedom of speech. Just right wingers are supposed to be rational and judicious in their choice of words. Also check out that wingnut prof that says the Bush administration is behind 9/11. Ooops, there’s proof for that. Then there’s Ward Churchill, the pride of Colorado. Maybe they’ll get the award next year, when pigs can fly.

When fat man Rush the right wing extremist blames obesity crisis on the left, you know damn well the fatso is drugged with oxycontin.

When a matured woman remains single and talks about married man the fag, you know she has yet to come out of closet.

I have been posting on the web since 1997.  I can say truthfully that before that I never meet a “right winger”. I am 64. I was utterly shocked when I started posting on CNN. Before I had never meet anyone who said they wanted to bomb this place and nuke that place and kill all leftists. Not in college or graduate school. I never realized that some people thought all evil came from labor unions.

I joined the web through Compuserve. (Do they still exist)?  And all of their political discussion groups were right wing and and all of their polls gave right wing results. Overwhelmingly right wing.  I found myself living in a different America then I thought I did.

The Internet was an eye opener. It convinced me that only a revolutionary stance was viable.
