Conservative radio personality Mike Gallagher appeared on Fox News on Tuesday to vent his anger at “The View” host Joy Behar for comparing Donald Rumsfeld to Hitler. Without a shred of irony, Gallagher then called for the government to round up Behar, Matt Damon and Keith Olbermann and “take the whole bunch of them and put them in a detention camp until this war is over, because they’re a bunch of traitors.”
Transcript from Think Progress:
GALLAGHER: You know, it’s a little bit ridiculous that we continue to watch these TV stars and movie stars who smear our leaders. I just wonder, Rob, if you’ll think for a moment, what our enemies think of seeing TV personalities compare the outgoing defense secretary to Adolph Hitler. I mean, you know, conservatives never get a pass. Strom Thurmond is wished a happy birthday by Trent Lott and the sky falls in on Trent Lott. But Joy Behar goes on national TV and compares a good man like Rumsfeld to the evilest in the world and nobody, you know, there’s no repercussions for Joy Behar. I think we should round up all of these folks. Round up Joy Behar. Round up Matt Damon, who last night on MSNBC attacked George Bush and Dick Cheney. Round up Olbermann. Take the whole bunch of them and put them in a detention camp until this war is over, because they’re a bunch of traitors.
ROB THOMPSON (radio host): They’re not traitors, they’re Americans. And you know what the great thing about America is, you get to say what you like and you don’t get thrown into detention camps.
GALLAGHER: No, you don’t.
THOMPSON: And that’s what the rest of the world sees. They see free Americans say what they like without having any fear of going to jail. So, if I wanted to compare someone to Hitler or anybody else, Pol Pot, whatever it might be, I have no fear of going to jail, because that is what an America is.
GALLAGHER: There’s such a thing as treason, Rob.
THOMPSON: That’s not treason. That’s just political talk and satire ... .

Bush & Co. has gotten away with:
1. Stealing 2 elections (with the help of the majority of fascists on the USSC),
2. Purposely falsifying intelligence and lying to Congress and the country as a basis for a fraudulent war which was nothing but a subterfuge for war profiteering, killing (read: murdering) and maiming thousands of U.S. citizens, murdering 650,000 Iraqis, wasting 1/2 trillion in U.S. taxpayers money, AND LETTING OSAMA BIN LADIN GO,
3. Ignoring the Constitution - illegal wiretaps and illegal indefinite detentions without charges or legal counsel,
4. Ignoring international law - torture and murder of prisoners of war.
So why would a few strategic political assassinations be so far fetched!

Hey Truth Digger,
FYI [you probably already know this] that it wasn’t just Prescott Bush who was a shareholder who profited from the dissolution of the Union Banking Corp. of N.Y. George Herbert Walker, Daddy Bush’s grandfather on his mothers side, was also a shareholder who met Prescott through his connection to this money laundering front and introduced him to his daughter. THANKS GEORGE!
So, it would seem that war profiteering is the foundational Bush family business - can you say Iran/Contra treason, right under the brain stem, Ronald Reagan’s, nose.
BTW, George Herbert Walker was also the former president of the USGA, and founder of Walker Cup amature team golf championships between the U.S., Great Britain and Ireland. Nice huh?

Prescott is dead. BUT don’t let Bush-daddy off so lightly.
His assistance helped Noriega rise to power, then when he’d used him up he assisted him to jail.
He was head of the CIA when we offed Allende. His dealings in South America are ALMOST as bad as United Fruit.
He consulted with Henry on the murder of 250.000 people in East Timor….and I’m only scratching the surface.
BUT
It’s not “The Bush Family” alone. Capitalism is a pyrmid scheme which involves increasing sales yearly. Those people who won’t or can’t join the scheme are expendable enmasse. Of course the natural resources and pretty real estate are sometimes useful.

Mike,
Report thisI don’t care for Donald Rumsfeld and his arrogant, cavalier attitude toward the Iraq war, but I think Joy Behar’s comments were way out of line. But there is a difference between her calling Rumsfeld another Hitler and Trent Lott disparaging the Civil Rights movement. Joy Behar is a TV personality. If you don’t like her comments, don’t watch the show or write to the station and complain. I’ve seen The View and really can’t understand why it has lasted more than one season. It’s just part of the morning television wasteland, I guess. Trent Lott is (or was) an elected official. At the time he made his comment, and correct me if I’m wrong, he was Senate majority leader and in the position to make and influence government policy.

Ironic, isn’t it, that the Bush Crime Family is a bunch of fascists? Not really. President Bush’s grandfather Prescott Bush was a director of a U.S. bank (Union Banking Corp. of New York) seized in 1942 by the federal government DURING World War II because of its ties to German industrialist Fritz Thyssen, who helped bankroll Adolf Hitler’s rise to power. Thyssen was an early financial supporter of Hitler and his Nazi Party.
More tantalizing are Bush’s links to the Consolidated Silesian Steel Company (CSSC), based in mineral rich Silesia on the German-Polish border. During the war, the company made use of Nazi slave labor from the concentration camps, including Auschwitz. Prescott Bush’s business dealings led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz.
The evidence has also prompted one former U.S. Nazi war crimes prosecutor to argue that the late senator’s action should have been grounds for prosecution for giving aid and comfort to the enemy. A report issued by the U.S. Office of Alien Property Custodian in 1942 stated of the companies that “since 1939, these (steel and mining) properties have been in possession of and have been operated by the German government and have undoubtedly been of considerable assistance to that country’s war effort”.
Once a fascist, always a fascist.

The whole problem is that this phenomenon we are currently embroiled in is far greater than Bush and Cheney. They are merely the most prominant faces in the movement at the moment. Granted many of the people in this administration have been at the center of this mind set and strategy for decades, but it is those dark forces behind the scenes that have been steering this world into an entanglement of evil, greed, strife and oppression. If you would like to see a good model of the world as they would like to see it, look back to the first three decades of the twentieth century. It was about ten percent super rich and nintey percent super poor. The greatest enemy to their cause was FDR and his New Deal. The goal is pure capitalism and believe they are entitled to rule. The minions, like Mike Gallagher, O’Reiley, Hannity, Limbaugh are idiots with no soul, heart or brain. They are either completely brainwashed, or they know what the game is. How in the hell can any person agree and go to the mat for every single action and cause that one party of government undertakes. The sad thing is, people are actually falling for this divide and rule strategy. That is the entire premise underlying the labels “liberal” and “conservative” While there is no doubt that two mind perverse exist - far right and far left - I believe with all my heart that most people lie in the middle unless they have been seduced by the “talking points” & spin the propagandists beat into their heads. I wonder how differnt their tone would be if the Democrats were in power. No need to answer that, its obvious.

I’ve heard this Gallagher idiot on the radio many times. He is more radical and extremist in his thoughts than most of these Republican governmental propagandists. The two things I remember about him other than the nausea I felt and my utter disbelief that anyone could be so intellectually dishonest, was him mocking Daniel Pearl and his family when he was abducted as being a conspiracy by the liberal media to make Bush look bad (prior to his head being found alongside the road), and leading the boycott against the Dixi Chicks. People like this man are truly horrifying. They are the living definition of the “Ugly American”. I remember thinking at the time that there should be restrictions on what people like this should be allowed to say over the airwaves because what they are saying is truly dangerous and harmful and could actually influence others to think similarly. Now I know that’s the whole point. Little did I know then that today these people would be admired as the truth bearers and college professors would be deemed radicals. Little did I know then that there would be an all out war on the free mind and progressive thinking. If love, compassion, truth, knowledge and the triumph of the human spirit are the most noble of all mankind’s ideologies, then God help us all because the powers that be in this nation fight with ferocity to impose the antithesis of each one.

You’re so right, guys. These paid propagandists on Faux News are the real cuprits by enabling the Bush Crime Family to try to turn this country in a facist state. Little by little, they have done exactly what Hitler did by taking away freedoms and rights a little at a time and came after a few people at a time while the rest of us “shopped” until they finally came for us and a great number of us wouldn’t notice until one day we wake up like the people of Germany and realize what has happened, but it’s too late. The slogan from that era has always been “never again”, but just look around and it has happened again. We have forgotten those lessons and let a facist dynasty take over our precious country while slaughtering thousands in our name. I, for one, refuse to give up my freedoms which my father fought for in WWII and we are giving away, but I will not be silenced. The 30r;s will only wake up when they put them in railroad cars headed south to Gitmo.

Too bad about Air America, but Olberman’s (and Stewart’s and Colbert’s) ratings are opening some eyes in the less rabid reaches of the MSM (and ratings are where the money is in Tv).
