Great.

On the subject of straight sex, a gay guy is seen as “telling it like it is”...

So now a gay man can accurately represent the woman’s point of view?  (Yech.)  I hope this is not what you’re suggesting, Penny.

I don’t think that advancing the cause of good sex or even a particular political concept was the point of the “interview”/book junket/comedic riff.  Colbert’s shtick provides a foil, and you either laugh or you don’t.

I personally got a charge out of Colbert’s fictitious “Tyrone Honeybee” porn name, his question to the guest about whether gay guys have secret fantasies of straight sex and the Epcot crack.  And the real fun starts when the guest is caught off guard because the unscripted portion takes over and the host has the timing to pull it off, leaving the guest sort of stammering under the laugh track.  Hardly what I’d call an off “interview”.

Colbert’s subversive subtext wins, in my opinion.

Dan Savage - Keep Rollin’...... and telling it like it is!

That’s the best!
And that’s from a “Straight” Woman!

And Stephen - although I am a humungous fan of yours——this ‘interview’ was not one of your better ones.

Dan Savage outshone you.

Penny
