Colbert on Christian Conservative HypocrisyPosted on Dec 6, 2006
Stephen Colbert mocks the Christian Coalition’s rejection of Joel Hunter (last week’s Truthdigger of the Week) as its president. Hunter wanted to expand the group’s agenda to address the AIDS epidemic and poverty—issues the Christian conservatives thought would cause people to confuse them with liberals, or perhaps Jesus.

I think the 2 commandments also might have been in the old testament(I don’t remember). The ten commandments fall into these 2 categories.
love God
1.no other gods
2.no idols
3.no name in vain
4.sabbath
love neighbor
5.honor parents
6.no murder
7.no adutery
8.do not steal
9.do not lie
10.do not covet
If you love God, you will automatically do the first 4
If you love your neighbor you will automatically do the last 6
in this way, the two commandments summarize the ten, not replace them

Christian Conservatives carry on a lot about the “ten commandments” and other issues; if they read thier New Testament (I know, Kurt Vonnegut states that Jews only have half a Bible, and the Mormons say that all the rest of us have an “incomplete” Bible.) they would discover that Jesus stated that there are only two commandments, which are “Love God with all thy heart, and love thy neighbor as thyself.” Of course, if many Christians read their Bible (and some Jacques Ellul) they might open their minds a bit…
