By Raise the Stanford College Loan Amt going to 1992, December 4, 2006 at 12:38 pm #

You have sucessfully created a 2 tier education system those that are RICH and those that are NOT. Those that can afford 38,000 dollars a year and those that can NOT! And IF YOU tell me to work while going to college, lets look at the facts. Are you paying 2000.00 like 1971 or 38,000 for todays college prices per year. Secondly, if you make 750.00 a week while out in summer.....does this PAY for your college cost for the year? NO it does not. The Stanford College Loan amounts should be raised from 1992 level each year by the average college increase. (emphasis added) There is NO reason why this can’t be raised and compounded back to 1992. The interest rate roll back is STILL under the fed’s over night leading rate. So they are making money.

Sen. Kerry is right

The national press coverage regarding Senator John Kerry’s remarks to students about staying in school to avoid ending up Iraq is totally overblown.
As every college-aged person knows, when you leave high school you have basically three paths to choose from: college, joining the work force or joining the military.
Since joining the work force leaves little room for success, as everyone knows, the most logical choices left are college or the armed services--which many go into in hopes of seeking a college degree and other financial incentives that are offered by the military.
It is true what Sen. Kerry said--the only way to escape from a low-paying job or expensive student loans is the military; the split between the wealthy and poor has reached an enormous gap, and that is a fact of life in America.

Forgot to mention that the 19,000 price tag is IN state tuition costs. If you are attending from outside the state it is close to 36,000 + books.
And I love my books. My home views like the library of congress- books and more books.
Delta Phenomenon Book Package cost 189.00 today (not the military type either)

Time to Fire some employees of Bush and Co government WASTE! Bye bye now. Start filling out those PINK slips Congress!
I hereby request Congress to look into the government employees for waste from Bush & Co government! Including the FAT Cat Pentagon boys and girls!
Then maybe they can UP the Federal College Loan Amount of 23,000 which has NOT been changed since 1992. (shame on YOU Mr. Clinton)
Up the amounts by the yearly college average increase since 1992. And yes compound same.
Talk about INFLATION!
Yes Congress go back to 1992. NO excuses!
I hold a college bill here in my hands dated 1971 from one of the current top 4 Public Universities in the USA:
1971 College Year - first year of college
Tuition 600.00 a year
Room plus Board -food 1450.00 a year
Books 450.00 a year
Current cost excluding books, and fees 19,000 for 2006 school year. That is over 1000 percent increase!
This is CRIMINAL Reckless Neglect to the American people.
Cut the College Interest Rate down to 3.0 percent. No BUSH I will NOT pay for your “reckless WAR decisions” through college interest loans that YOU doubled. Nice try Bush, but YOU get an F helping out the college students.
Do you realize Mr. Bush how many trillions of dollars that YOU have wasted through military
media brainwashing,
spying on the american public,
military contracts with NO bid clauses
flying around the country for election campaigns at these students are R A P E D?
Now think of all those dollars that could of been used to educate kids for college, k-12 no child left behind with no funds - empty promises.
You Mr. Bush YOU have R A P E D the American Younger Generation at large. YOU and YOUR Republicans crooks have “stolen” from students.
As I attended a college summitt a few days ago, 90 percent of college students spoke how they could NOT afford college relative to the costs. YOU have financially raped kids seeking education.
Tax write offs for ALL of college tuition and interest on college loans for income earners up to 125,000 of earned income. Get busy Bush you can help find YOUR waste too.
Further, any federal or state funds given to ANY college for research MUST include a CAP on tuition equal to yearly CPI. Remember that bogus CPI figure that removes “food and energy”. What is good for goose is good for the gander! Additionally, ANY college that accepts Standford Loans will accept yearly CAP via CPI!
Control College Costs!
Stop the waste of Bush government NOW!
Do you want an educated society or not, Mr. Bush? You see, UNLIKE you we want to actually attend the classes and educate our brain cells! <emphais added>
Most Sincerely,
Concerned Mother
PS> I’m sure billions of American parents would agree with me. Any takers?

I don’t get why this video was even on here. It was a pretty tame video. Of course the more affluent would not want their hard earned money going to the people that don’t earn it. And of course the poor would want money that the affluent earn and try to shelter from being taxed. Does this really shock or surprise anyone?

It is sad that we all consider people like Bill O and Rush knowledgeable new sources instead of the entertainers they are. Barney Frank is so much than either one of them that he shouldn’t even be in the same state with either one of them.

W. Buffet, the second wealthiest man once said, his secretary paid more taxes than him. We all know the tax shelters are designed for and benefited by the wealthiest.
For the rich to pay their fair share of taxes is equitable. Fair share of taxation is no income redistribution by any measure. Btw, what on earth the politicians including prez had the right to give our tax dollars to the oil companies, steel, railroad and farming industries?
These politicians asked us to vote them during elections. After they are elected, they don’t bother to tell you a thing which are harmful to the people and the nation.

I didn’t watch the interview. I didn’t have to. I know Bill O’Reilly. He’s no friend of mine. And, Bill, you’re no Barney Frank. If the senators and reps in congress, collectively, had half the brains of Barney Frank, we wouldn’t be where we’re at today.
