University police officers repeatedly stunned a handcuffed UCLA student with a Taser in a library after he could not produce an identification card. The video is sickening. The university is promising an investigation. Watch it:

jeddy, you are so f*cking ignorant. He did not deserve 5 tasers. Hell, after he got tasered they asked him to stand up. You cant stand up after being tasered.

UCLA is a private institution. If they demand someone on their property show ID he has to. On the other hand, if he was walking down the street, the cops do not have that right.

That’s a horrifying video of a UCLA student being Tasored over & over again, originally for not showing his ID as he was LEAVING the library, and then for not standing-up immediately after each time he was repeatedly Tasored! The victims screams are blood-curdling throughout!
The goons who perpetrated this torture need to be brought up on serious charges immediately!

Jeddy, you are an idiot. It is impossible to stand shortly after being tasered. Before cops had tasers they would have picked him up and dragged him out after cuffing him. The pigs were just lazy pussies who wanted to use their new toys . The fact that they are stuck in a low paying job may have something to do with this also. Uneducated pigs giving it to the college kid.

jeddy, please leave America now. your kind is not welcome here. perhaps Guatemala or Turkey or Syria would be more compatible with your, um, notions of freedom.
regrettably we cannot offer you a ticket to Deutschland, 1936, because we are certain you would feel most at home there.

wow, that’s crazy. i’ve forgot my Bruincard before and the CSO I tried telling my story to said the only options were me leaving Powell or him calling UCPD. I’m glad I left!
The issue’s just that they go around checking peoples’ IDs after 11pm to make sure they’re really students. If you’ve been working there since before 11 and are in the middle of your work and have forgotten your card, you can get kicked out. It sucks, but it’s a precaution since the library’s open 24hrs a day. I remember on nights I didn’t have my card for some reason, heading to the bathroom and waiting for 10 or so minutes to pass by before I could head back out and get to work.

The student was wrong, of course, not to show proper ID, but that is no excuse for the disgusitng display be the authorities. I wish him well in his lawsuit.

Jeddy - please understand that NO ONE deserves this kind of treatment from any official for any reason that does not involve saving a life, or something equally drastic - our society has made it easier and easier to forget that we each are born with human dignity - noone has the right to remove that by force - by doing so, they remove some of the basic dignity of each and every one of us. If we look away or cheer it on, simply because we don’t know the victim, or they’re brown, or poor…whatever reason we allow ourselves to enable this kind of behaviour, we are killing a part of ourselves as well. I’ve always wondered how on Earth that the people of Hitler’s Germany could allow such vicious criminals to take so much power—- all it takes is an ever increasing level of ‘don’t know ‘em & don’t care’. Like the frog being slowly warmed up in the pot of water - we are being prepared and numbed by the constant barrage of these kinds of stories. It’s not wrong to report these things - we desperately need to know when these kind of things happen - but it’s wrong to ever ACCEPT these kind of horrible actions as right, especially by so-called “professionals” Whatever happened to ‘innocent until PROVEN guilty?” A hand-cuffed university student isn’t even a terrorist, for God’s sake! What next?

You’re sick. He was handcuffed and psychically unable to stand up. Excessive force, anyone?

Jeddy, did you watch the whole thing? I agreed with you for the first 2 minutes, but my goodness. He was in handcuffs. He was no threat whatsoever. Its completely possible that he was unable to stand due to the repeated tazes.

I’ll wait to hear more regarding whether he deserved that first tase or not, but the next 3 were COMPLETELY unnecessary. 3 on 1, let’s tase him anyways. makes me sick.
