Maher censored
From CNN

During a live broadcast of “Larry King Live” on Wednesday, Bill Maher alluded to the biggest open secret in Washington: Ken Mehlman, chairman of the Republican National Committee, is gay. But when the program re-aired, Maher’s comment had been edited out.

I think that I know why the attitude and actions of the Republican Party for the past six years remind me of a very old joke… Son to father:- “Dad, will you please explain to me what ethics means”?...Father to son:- ” I sure can. A woman came into the store today to buy a shirt for her husband. She eventually selected one, and gave me two new twenty dollar bills to pay for it. When I went to put the money into the cash register, I noticed that she had inadvertently given me three twenty dollar bills. That’s where ethics comes into the picture my son. I had to make a very quick decision - do I or do I not tell my partner”.

I’m going to side with CNN censoring on this one. I think regardless of the point you’re trying to make, outing people is never cool.

I don’t care if he doesn’t deny it in local circles, he may not have any intention of the world in general knowing it.

Yo, Bukko!:

No sane person cares what other people do in bed unless he or she is in bed with them. But American-style homophobia is simply Mencken’s definition of Puritanism (“The haunting fear that someone somewhere is having fun”) in extremis.

In the 60’s, it was briefly possible to believe that all these tribal superstitions about who should do what to whom in the sack would eventually sink into the tar pits of history, to make way for the sexual Enlightenment. Of course some of us also believed that the God-is-dead movement would liberate us from the bonds of traditional religious mythology. Didn’t quite work out that way.

In a rare burst of honesty, an anti-gay psychologist whose name escapes me admitted that homosexuality posed a threat to the social order/family values because it brought its practitioners too much pleasure, whereas heterosexual unions sanctified by the church tend to be a little boring and predictable (speak for yourself, buddy)—-a religious variant, I guess, on Freud’s idea that civilization entails the renunciation of instinct.  But I’m sure that gay relationships can be just as dull as straight ones and there’s no reason that such dullness shouldn’t be afforded the same legal protections across the board.

P.S.: where, oh where is Hondo now that we need him? Remember his prediction that we’d face another humilating defeat come Nov. 7 since our side “couldn’t get elected dogcatcher”? The silence is truly eerie. You don’t think he?. .  . Nawwww. The bad penny. . .

I must agree that the sexual orientation of people like Mehlman is neither here nor there. The fact that this professional liar could stand up the day after the election ‘thumpin’ that America gave the Republicans trying to convince himself and others that all would be OK says much more about what kind of person Mehlman is.

The other amazing thing is that NO ONE seemed to predict the dumping of Mehlman after the Republican fiasco. Republicans are really good at throwing anyone and everyone ‘under the bus’ except those who are the real source of the problem. I told many of my friends that Mehlman was a goner.

Mehlman is and was a pimp for the Republicans, He is now an unemployed pimp who I am certain will find employment in DC. After all, K Street is a street of pimps, he’ll fit right in. I couldn’t care less what Mehlman does in his boudoir…I care very much what he did to America along with the Bushites and the power-mad Republicans. May they reap exactly what they have sewn.

RGW writes “What is the big frickinÂ’ deal?”

Actually it is a “big frickinÂ’ deal”. After all, it’s one of evangelical valuesssssss which they don’t want the public to know.

Will the gay community please drag more of these holier than thou closet gays out to the public arena.

Well, this is a great development. Science finally proves that 100%—everyone on the planet (except me)—is homosexual. And the CIA uses this ‘intelligence’ 24/7. Why am I not surprised? Only one question: How long can CIA keep this out of Science Digest?

Who cares about ANYONE’s Sexual orientation?  Can we just try to stay on topic?  It seems to me that if everyone would just come out of their respective “closets” that we would all be better off.  Man, I agree with the writer, we have much bigger challenges facing us and whether or not anyone is Gay, Straight, Bi, whatever….is not one of them.

Hats off to Doogie Howser for coming out (albeit sadly because someone was going to “out” him?)  Hope he sets the standard for everyone moving forward.  Here is a guy who portrays a chick hound on a successful TV show and is, in reality, gay!  Wow, what a scandal (sarcasm alert).

Let’s all start focusing on healthcare for everyone, SUCCESSFULLY getting Iraq under control, well-paying jobs for everyone that wants one, quality education for all that want it and a clean, safe roof over our heads, among other things.

Quit with the smoke and mirrors! Not only is it transparent, it is insluting to anyone who bothers to listen.

Gay?  Who cares…............

I agree that their sexual preference is irrelevant except, as Al Franken puts it, when they’re anti-gay gay Republicans. But I wish Mehlman, Karl Rove, Charlie Crist and all the others in the Gay Old Party would just come out about their true nature. Then the Rethugs could either have a mass expulsion, or say “It doesn’t matter what you do in bed as long as I don’t have to clean the santorum off the sheets.” And the GOOPers who can’t abide being in a political party if it doesn’t demonise sex can form their own “God Hates Fags Party.” Like the Anglican Church has done.

RE: Comment #37390 by RGW on 11/09 at 5:16 pm—“To the Hague with the lot of them! Pelosi be damned!”

Couldn’t agree more, but let’s face it, this is show busyness; and even among many so-called progressive voices, they still obsess over how Clinton got screwed over the “blue dress” affair—and many are now salivating over Republican pedophilia.

In response to the above comment ‘Whats the big deal that Mehlman is gay?’
Ken Mehlman as chairman of the RNC oversaw the campaign to energize the evangelical base of the republican party by gay baiting. I guess when you are a rich, powerful gay man you don’t care about the little people or adolescents who are struggling with their homosexuality. Shame on him. He is a grotesque, hypocrite. He has no integrity. He has contributed in a significant way to the suffering of gays and lesbians. He is like the jewish Kapos in the concentration camps who punished their fellow jews to garner favors from the Nazis.

Well, if it is no big deal, why edit it out?  Seems to me, news is news.  Oh, but, this is America - sorry I forgot.

After seeing this, I have to wonder why people think that what they saw on TV that special morning 5 years ago was unaltered?

Like listening to Bush - why would anyone believe anything he says?

Reminds me of the control of what the public sees lately;

During the past month, there were two minor (no one hurt) airplane accidents - a jet at Houston Intercontinental Airport (Bush, IAH) backed into another parked jet.  Neither plane could be flown afterwards.  No pictures.  I forget the second one, but, same deal, minor collision, no pictures.  Wonder why national security requires the hiding of damaged aircraft?

Recently there was a spectacular accident on I95

The story says the truck was carrying “fuel oil” as in kerosene as in jet fuel.  The story is that it “hit a guard rail.”  Take a look at the back of the tanker
http://members.cox.net/weybosset/Tanker/Tanker007.jpg
I also find it interesting that the tanker has no identification on it and, the photographer chose to take a picture from a vantage where you also could not see who owned the cab;

“Fuel Oil,” eh?

What is the big frickin’ deal? Jeebus Crispies! Someone’s sexual orientation is the least of our worries. Getting rid of cretins like Mehlman, gay or no, is really the point. To the Hague with the lot of them! Pelosi be damned!
