Weekly Video RoundupPosted on Sep 22, 2006
This week’s edition of Truthdig-flavored videos includes a “Daily Show” spot-on satirical interview with a discharged gay Army linguist; a classic Bill Maher broadside on President Bush; and Jon Stewart asking Bill Clinton how to defeat Hillary. No. 1: Jason Jones on Gays in the Military The “Daily Show’s” Jason Jones interviews a U.S. Army Arabic translator who was thrown out of the military because he is gay. The segment includes a Jones interview with one of the country’s most prominent anti-gays-in-the-military activists. Jones’ discrediting of the activist and Jones’ attempt to distract the translator are both classic “Daily Show” moments. No. 2: Bill Maher Roughs Up President Bush Check out this can’t-miss two-part interview between Bill Maher and Joe Scarborough. Maher ends the first segment with a uppercut knockout punch straight to Bush’s jaw on the issue of “supporting the troops.” In the second segment, Scarborough and Maher take up the “idiot” question. Bill says “the jury’s in” on this one. Advertisement No. 3: “Jesus Camp” This new documentary affords an inside look at an evangelical camp for kids in North Dakota in which campers praise a photo of the president, among other things.
Watch an ABC News report on the film.
No. 4: Bush & Co.‘s Lies About Saddam and Al Qaeda, Catalogued You won’t believe—or maybe you will—the lies that continued to pour out of the mouths of Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice and Tony Snow in the wake of the unveiling of a Senate report concluding that Saddam had no ties to Al Qaeda, and was in fact a sworn enemy of the group.
No. 5: Stewart Probes Bill Clinton on Hillary’s Weaknesses Bill Clinton made an appearance on The Daily Show” Monday to share the heartwarming work of his Clinton Global Initiative, but the climax of the interview was much more fun. Jon Stewart put the former president on the seat of heatӓ” and asked: Mr. President, Hillary Clinton may be running for president. If so, what is the key to defeating her?” New and Improved CommentsIf you have trouble leaving a comment, review this help page. Still having problems? Let us know. Is this event staged? If not, it is one of the more chilling things I’ve seen. How can this be? What would Dinesh D’Souza say?

the honkey tonk bar in tucson is really not surprising, it could be anywhere in the good ol’ USA. it doesn’t matter how far we come as a people, there will always be two groups of people it will be “okay” to hate, the jews and gays. My grandfather lived in Tucson for most of his life, worked outdoors as a carpenter and did all types of manual labor, and if he watched this clip, I know his reaction would be something like this, “take off you damn silly hats, you’re indoors you clowns”.
