Bill Maher Takes On ‘The Path to 9/11’Posted on Sep 11, 2006
Maher, along with guests Rob Thomas, P.J. O’Rourke and Joan Walsh, ripped into ABC’s undocu-drama, which pins the blame for 9/11 on Bill Clinton. Maher reminds us: As president, Clinton had a meeting a week about bin Laden; George W. Bush, before 9/11, had zero. O’Rourke, a conservative, also had a good point:

Is Ritchy capable of writing a complete and coherent sentence? Anyway. Every movie, every TV drama, every media channel special report concerning 9/11 that has been generated so far and will be generated in the near future are no more than examples of profiteering to my eyes.
The United 93 movie and the latest one with Nicolas Cage are rude ventures for capital gain, and nothing more.
I recommend the film review on the Roger Ebert website on the WTC movie. It concisely and accurately captures the true nature of the film and those like it.

Ritchy,
You’re missing the whole point. Even if we were to concede your point that it’s all Clinton’s fault, why create entirely fictional scenes to make that point? Shouldn’t the facts speak for themselves? I just don’t get it. 9/11 was dramatic on it’s own merits. What is the need to jazz it up with fictional scenes?
The only conclusion I can reasonably come to is that the filmmakers are partisans hoping to affect the November elections and perhaps help Bush’s poll numbers.
For the record: I’m a Republican. I haven’t really trusted Bush since he beat McCain in the primaries with dirty tricks. After 9/11 I gave him a chance, but events since then have made me distrust him and his crew even more.
I state this because the world needs to know that not all conservatives and not all Republicans support Bush. Some of us realized he was a crook long ago, and some are just waking up to it now, but we’re not all Bush zombies.

In response to Comment #22934 by Ritchy, have you read the 9/11 Commission Report? I have. You can download it from the web for free. Take a gander before you speak ignorance, and try in the future to avoid using TV dramatizations as research.

And so the parade of sheep begins. Sure Bill Clinton gets the blame for something that happened two years after he was out of office, the earth is not having any global warming issues, and torture is legal. And that is not nice about screwing a pooch, Monica wasn’t a beauty queen, but she wasn’t all that ugly…
