‘Daily Show’ Probes GOP Rep’s ‘Pimp Tax’

Jack Kingston
From Comedy Central

Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) wants to impose penalties on pimps who don’t file W-2 forms for their prostitutes. But “Daily Show” correspondent Dan Bakkedahl asks, “Instead of a tax on pimps, why not a rebate on hoes?”

Partial transcript:

Dan Bakkedahl: Congressman Jack Kingston would like you to believe he’s all for core conservative values…

And you might buy that until you look at his latest piece of legislation.

Rep. Jack Kingston: If you’re a pimp, and you have 10 women working for you, and you don’t file 10 W-2 forms, you’re in violation of the law. The idea behind this is: here’s one more way to nail a pimp

Bakkedahl: Now you said you’re against raising taxes, but you’re in favor of this pimp tax…Instead of a tax on pimps, why not a rebate on hoes?

Rep. Jack Kingston: I think the pimp would be our target.

Hi Georgian:
I couldn’t agree with you more that there are many ways to trap those that need to be trapped. BUT, this is completely over the top. I mean, can you picture a guy in his white suit with gold chains pulling up in front of an IRS office in his vintage Lincoln Continental saying, “I would like to register my stable of hoes?”
This guy is in Congress. This guy is part of the group that is writing the laws of our land. Does this bloke really think this is going to happen? It is sort of like thinking that an invasion of Iraq will yield tons of WMD. Enough of these morons is enough!

Ted: The segment is hilarious, but actually IRS violations have long been a way to catch criminals, especially gangsters.  (Al Capone charged with tax evasion, etc.)

Honestly I don’t think Jack comes off looking too ridiculous compared to many politicians interviewed on the Daily Show!

I was just talking about the 2006 Hall of Lame. You are correct though, the line of “succession” is long and shallow.

Something must be in the water in Georgia. First we get Ralph Reed, now this guy. Next we’ll have them requesting that shop lifters and burglars be required to report their takings.
