Colbert to Congressman: ‘Are You High Right Now?’

Stephen Colbert and Rick Larsen

In an interview with Rep. Rick Larsen (D-Wash.), Stephen Colbert noted that Washington is one of the few states that has a medical marijuana program.

Watch it:

Transcript:

“Your state is one of the few that has a medical marijuana program,” Colbert said to Congressman Rick Larsen, from Washington.

Larsen: Uh-huh, that’s right.

Colbert: Are you high right now?

Rep. I am not, nor have I ever been.

Colbert: I didn’t ask that part. You jumped to that pretty quickly. Seems like he doth protest too much. Are you going to tell me you didn’t kill anyone next? ‘I don’t know where the murder weapon is.’ That’s what that sounded like to me.

Larsen: I can understand what you’re saying.

Colbert: Can you? Because sometimes it can impair your hearing if you smoke dope.

Colbert is a genius, hes by far my favorite celebrity… And the hearing thing is true, but from personal experience, I’ve found that it only really impairs your ability to tell where the sound is coming from, your hearing itself is actually amplified.

Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart are complete morons. Anyone who takes anything they say seriously is as moronic as they are. Is it any wonder that liberals hold them in such high esteem?

He looks high. Sweaty and high.

Why did the congressman wear a red tie. Was it to show how tough he is. To let the tie speak for him. Bold and tough. It didn’t work. He wimped out.

Mr. Colbert has sharpened his wits . . highly honed.
Long may he broadcast.

I thought the guy did real well. He clearly knew what was up and did a fine job. He seemed to be having a pretty good time with the whole thing actually. He made me proud to be a Democrat.

Griffin,—

evidently this was intended as a send-up of the Jon Stewart / Owen Wilson interview (though I’ve not seen either—but read about ‘em both here).

cheers,

Rick Larsen not only KNEW they would make fun of him, but his people must have sent out a press release because it was all over the news in the
Seattle area the day BEFORE his interview was aired.  Guess he wanted to show what a good sport he could be.

Rick Larsen is my congressman.  The interview was freaking hilarious, our whole town loved it!  He says that when he went in for the interview, he knew exactly what to expect.  They interviewed him for about 3 hours for just this little bit. Priceless.

While we marvel at the audacity of this quirkiness, it’s jsut that: Quirky. Hardly enlightening stuff. So, Mr Colbert is not afraid to pull his pants down in public.

I don’t find Larsen’s denial convincing. He should take a blood test already.

Stephen Colbert can do no wrong. Period!
Along with Da Ali G Show and master Bill M. on HBO - it’s the best thing on the tube.
Comic relief and political wit are in desperate need.
Bravo to the great lady “A” - the Huffington Post is the best site on the internet!!
Thank you , thank you!

That was hilarious!

“You voted for the USA Patriot Act, correct.”

“Yes, that’s correct.”

“So, what’s your favorite part of domestic spying?”

“I don’t have a favorite part.”

“So, you just love it all?”

Classic!

It’s about time we start holding our elected officials to a higher degree of accountability.
Heaven forbid, should one of those guys in the Senate ever discover their navel.

Stewart-Colbert rule television!! They’re a life saver when it comes to t.v. watching. Basic cable is so crapy these days I soooo much look forward to 9:00 when they come on.

Keep up the great work, we love you.

These interviews with congressmen are increasingly hilarious.  By now the cat is way out of the bag on what Colbert does in these interviews, so it’s funny to watch the congressmen try to outmaneuver Colbert.  The only problem for them is, Colbert’s gotten better at his game, too.
