Murtha Attacks Rove on ‘Cut and Run’ Comments

Posted on Jun 19, 2006
John Murtha on

John Murtha on “Meet the Press.”

Antiwar Democratic Rep. John Murtha on Karl Rove’s assertion that Democrats are, essentially, cowards on Iraq: “He?s sitting in his air-conditioned office on his big, fat backside—saying stay the course. That?s not a plan!”

Meet the Press:

Russert: Cutting and Running

MURTHA: He’s in New Hampshire. He’s making a political speech. He?s sitting in his air-conditioned office on his big, fat backside-saying stay the course. That?s not a plan! We’ve got to change direction. You can’t sit there in the air-conditioned office and tell troops carrying seventy pounds on their backs, inside these armored vessels-hit with IED’s every day-seeing their friends blown up-their buddies blown up-and he says stay the course? Easy to say that from Washington, DC.

Looking at the large number of blog posts I’ve placed throughout the blogsphere in the last 2 weeks, I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking they look like spam.

My apologies to all.

Some interesting things happened today.  I received an email response from Bill Pasco(e) of Diana Irey’s campaign against John Murtha for the 12th District of Pennsylvania seat in the House of Representatives.

In responding Mr. Pascoe’s email, I found it useful to CC that response to him to Elizabeth Baier and her editor Ms. Rosenhause (Managing Editor Sun-Sentinel).

The topic of those emails was “Rovian Architecture Unplugged”.  If you are interested to learn more, feel free to write them.

Make “Rovian Architechure Unplugged” your subject heading so they know what your inquiry is about.

Their email addresses:

Unfortunately, it is actually a bad argument to say that we need to end the War because soldiers are being “hit with IED’s every day-seeing their friends blown up-their buddies blown up.”

It is folly to say that the War is wrong because Americans are dying.

The War needs to be wrong for moral, ethical and/or legal reasons. Dems need to focus on that! And not the “troops are dying” argument.

That lying leach, Karl Rove had the balls to say the following BS on this Right Wing site

“the Internet for the Left of the Democratic Party has served as a way to mobilize hate and anger — hate and anger, first and foremost, at this President and Conservatives, but then also at people within their own party whom they consider to be less than completely loyal to this very narrow, very out-of-the-mainstream, very far Left-wing ideology that they tend to represent.”

Now one of David Horowitz’s stooges has churned out this garbage about us AGREEING WITH KARL ROVE!!!

It’s time to teach these weasels a lesson! Let’s show them what happens when they smear the truth!!!

Blast these bastards with all you’ve got!!!

Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could just get Gore or Hillary Clinton or whoever the hell is running on the Democratic ticket to finally open up their mouths and have the one platform that will truly win the election….IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWL FROM IRAQ! If Hillary or Al could just get up and say, “Hey we screwed up, let’s get out! As soon as I am elected, my first act as President will be to GET THE HELL OUT OF IRAQ IMMEDIATELY.” They can pull out 25% of the troops every 6 months. That creates a time table and they should put it in writing to the American People. It’ll be over and done with in 2 years or less. They Iraqis can negotiate with their own people better than anything with the Americans. Then the military will have an easier time hiding those godforbidden “secret” military bases that this bullshit war partly about. It’s not a cut and run like the Rovey Boys keep spewing, it’s a tactical withdrawl out of human and political necessity and just plain old goddamn common horse sense, something the majority of Uber-Neo-Conservo-Rubes who spend more time watching TBN than CNN, don’t have….If the democratic candidate for president could say that, he or she would win and we would all, the rest of the world included, would be better off for it.
Let’s never ever get bushwacked again. Let these crooks “in the house” be thrown out for good with landslide election victories that cannot be questioned…..and we can always hold a Democratic President’s feet to the fire a hell of a lot better than a member of the Bush Mafia Family….Love, Barbie.

Bravo and Hallelujah !  John Murtha is a man who knows the facts, can communicate, and is not afraid to stand up for the truth and for the young Americans sent to fight this mess in Iraq.  I absolutely love his statement concerning Rove sitting on his backside in an air conditioned room.  The contrast Mr. Murtha presents is absolute - on point.  While these wannabe warriors, including Rove, President Bush, et al, who sit as administrators, and argue about patriotism, they have no genuine heart or understanding concerning the personal costs effected to this one per cent of the nation.  It is deplorable.
Forget dealing with the President. He is isolated, uncaring, and incommunicado. Remember, above all, he is smart and he knows exactly what he is doing (don’t let him off the hook by saying he is managed by Cheney and Rove. It is this president that has managed to spend billions on striking a foreign sovreign nation and exploiting others). Instead, deal with our legislative representatives, in Congress and Senate. Vote them out of office if they voted for the newest war machine budget. Vote for democrats, even if they are barely “less worse” than the republicans. We have got to change the direction of this nation. Just as Mr. Murtha advocates. If we vote to replace currently elected representatives we will not only restore some balance of power in our judicial, executive, congressional branches of government, we may lift the veil of secrecy and plans encompassed in the present administration.  Remember, all these billions that Bush and co spend in Iraq go to someone.  Those billions are not being spent on the troops and gear to protect those troops.  Those billions are not spent to rebuild Iraq.  Those billions are leaking their way into the pockets of no bid contractors who seem unable to do their work timely, if at all.  Mr. Murtha is America’s new hero.  We must get out of Iraq, and it would seem the only way to do that is to change the administration.  Vote a Democratic ticket - save the nation !

I would vote for a Democratic nominee such as John Murtha for President of the US.
