CBS: Teen Sex Orgy Complaints Invalid

A screenshot from controversial episode of CBS drama “Without a Trace.”

Virtually none of the people who complained about a racy sex scene in the CBS drama “Without a Trace” actually saw the show in question, according to the network, which is fighting a record $3.3-million indecency fine. CBS said that all of the 4,211 e-mailed complaints came from conservative websites that urged members to send complaints about the segment—sight unseen.

  • Boing Boing:

The FCC fined CBS $3 million for the teen sex orgy scene in Without a Trace. (View it, if you dare, here). Now CBS is saying the fine is invalid because the people who complained didn’t even know what they were complaining about. They were just robotically following the orders of their cult leaders at the PTC and the American Family Association.

someone directs , writes and produces this and all shows on tv public or cable and also someone profits from this shows , profit is the magic word people.
if teenagers or anybody participate in an orgy well good for them, is their choice ,is their right.
but when entertaining the masses there is always a place and time or venue like playboy tv.
if smutt passes through our eyes often we will forget what it is and sooner or later all will get blurry and someday we wont recognize what it is anymore or if it is. -whats next cartoons? wake up porn freaks - porn excites young viewers it turns them on - this is only done to cause them to want more to view more of this show so some fat millnonare can get richer mor eratings -duffes
if we adults dont stand up to this who will -lets all be mature and responsible adults -all kids depend on us to guide them - stop thinking like a teen ager is time to act your age -porn freaks

re: TEEN SEX TURNS PEOPLE OFF

If the WB did it, and the WB has been racy in some shows, which are mostly lighthearted soaps, nobody complains.

But CBS does a show on TEEN SEX and people complain because they were told it was lurid.

Well, how old do people think them folks in the Bible were when they did all that begatting? 54 years old?

I think most Biblical rulers and people started begatting about age 14 or 15, given the average person died at 35 and needed about 15-16 years of parential guidence to stay alive so they could begat more kids.

But, that’s no reason to try to ruin a network.

I did in fact see this infamous scene. I’m a liberal, I vote as a democrat, I don’t attend church or believe in a higher power. But as a mother of two small children, I was incredibly offended at what was shown on this episode. I was so disgusted that I *gasp* turned the TV off.

Should CBS have shown the episode with the offensive scene? Maybe, maybe not. But I also know that we have the power to turn off programming that we find offensive and not allow our children to watch it. My children go to bed at 8 p.m. so we help them avoid the “adult viewing” hours of television. Many nights, we *gasp* don’t watch TV at all.

I think I’m more offended at Cialis and Viagra commercials that run during public sporting events during daytime hours, especially on weekend afternoons. Now, why don’t these Christian organizations put pressure on CBS and other networks to not show sexually explicit advertising during daytime programming?

Informed and thoughful critical opinion, originating from the sender, MUST be acknowledged and seriously considered by those appointed/elected as decision makers in our “free” society.

“Informed” means to know what you’re talking about… you’ve seen, heard or read the original, unedited material about which you are commenting.

“Thoughtful” means you have something NEW to add to the discussion, not just a parroting of what you’ve been fed by others.

“Critical” means that by some measure you’ve looked at all sides of the issue, and offer your conclusions, based on evidence or values which are referenced to the reader. Anything less is simply unsupported assumptions and glib opinion.

BULK emails, written by biased organizations to serve their own political agendas, should be dismissed out-of-hand as invalid… almost fraud… almost a chargeable offence because it’s a deliberate waste of other people’s time. It’s also an offensive use of perhaps mentally “vulnerable” people to serve your own ends.

For organizations such as CBS in this issue, as with the Macy’s fiasco re the gay window display the other day, to even bother to consider these mindless robotic “protests” is an insult to intelligence. To actually act on them confirms for onlookers the bigger fool.
