Fox News Host Shouts Down Hate Speech

Fox News host and hate monger
From Huffington Post

Fox News host Julie Banderas dukes it out with virulently anti-gay hatemonger Shirley Phelps-Roper on FNC’s “The Big Story Weekend.”

Watch as Fox host Julie Banderas drowns out a vile anti-gay hatemonger. (Sort of a straw-man target, to be sure, but it’s nice to see Fox News on the correct side of the cultural divide for a change. (Video hoster: Johnny Dollar’s Place.)

Huffinton Post’s Eat the Press:

This video shows FNC host Julie Banderas in a screaming match with religious-extremist-hate-spewing guest Shirley Phelps-Roper on FNC’s “The Big Story Weekend.” Phelps-Roper is the daughter of virulent homophobe-zealot Fred Phelps and a member of his Westboro Baptist Church, which pickets funerals of fallen U.S. soldiers. Choice heated exchange:

PHELPS-ROPER: This nation is full of idolatry, full of adultery…
BANDERAS: Full of insane people like yourself ma’am!
PHELPS-ROPER: ...sodomy, fornication...You’re proud! Proud of your sins! You can’t do enough sinning! You think gay pride, bimbo.
BANDERAS (angrily): Oh! Okay!
PHELPS-ROPER: You have sinned away your day of grace.
BANDERAS: Okay, YOU are an abomination.

If you are going to have things like freedom of religion and freedom of speech, that means there are going to be people that say things you don’t agree with and believe in things you don’t follow. Along with those freedoms is the freedom to ignore idiots. You can say what you want, nobody has to listen. I find the beliefs of this “church” atrocious, but the fact of the matter is they have the right to have these beliefs and the right to vocalize them. The problem I have is that this is one of many cases where people use their freedom with a total disregard of tact and respect. The good news is they could be stopped with a simple city ordinance if one were put into place. The thing about Constitutional freedoms is that they are freedoms as it pertains to the law. For example we have freedom of speech but we can’t run into a crowded theater and yell “Fire!” If a law were put into effect that protests could not be held within, for example, 5,000 feet of a funeral, funeral procession, or cemetary, that would put a stop to them. At the very least an ordinance like that might make it where it wasn’t worth their effort. Finally, they’ll all see who burns in hell when their time comes.

Banderas nailed it...this woman’s father (the infamous Fred Phelps), her, and others of his followers are indeed an abomination because they have tarnished the name of God by spouting their invective in His name. Since when is hatred a Christian principle?

The Phelps klan is a nasty cult and their kids should be handed over to children’s services.

But it’s obvious what Fox News is trying to do here. Even the most reactionary news service is going to seem a centrist compared to Phelps. It’s a bit like hanging out in special ed and proclaiming yourself a genius.

Let’s concentrate on the real threats, the Dobsons, Delays, Tony Perkins, Falwells and the George W. Bushs and leave Fred Phelps and his brood for local mental health professionals.

The woman is just out-and-out insane. If she wasn’t so horrible, you could almost feel sorry for her.

This demented hag is a caracature, not a person.  That whole family makes one wonder why they cannot be arrested and imprisoned or shot.  Ann Coulter should join them because she fits their mold so well.  They seem like the demonized who need to be exorcized.  Who can conceive of anything more evil than to beg for Matthew Shepherd to burn in hell?  Or to attend funerals for fallen soldiers and scream out their anti-gay slogans which have nothing to do with the soldier.  They cause so much pain to the families with their hate.  Surely there is some way to stop them.  Free speech was never intended for lunatic ravings like theirs.  Bravo for the reporter who shouted her down although she should not have been invited in the first place.

Thank God there are some people in “the media” whom recognize and call out the Ignorant and INSANE.
