‘President’ Al Gore addresses the nation

Al Gore addresses the nation as if he were president in this “Saturday Night Live” clip. Watch for the parody of Bush’s spying programs.

Crooks and Liars:

“Saturday Night Live,” opened their show tonight with Al Gore addressing the nation as if he was the President of the United States. Gore was focused and quite funny in this entertaining spoof of the current administration and their long range of failures. He also parodied himself and the media (when they falsely claimed he said he created the internets) by saying that he invented an Anti-Hurricane and Tornado Machine.

He touched on immigration, oil, the Middle East, judges and a host of other topics that have divided our country since Bush took office. I did enjoy GWB leading the charge to clean up Baseball’s steroid problem: “But I have faith in baseball commissioner George W. Bush when he says, “We will find the steroid users if we have to tap every phone in America!” Do you have a favorite line?

Here’s a link to their homepage so show them some love.

HEY Bernie,

Gore was one of the guys telling Bush and Cheney how important Bin-Laden was and how carefully he needed to be watched. It was Bush’s security committee that never met to discuss this terrorist threat. Gore would have at least kept track of Osama! Would it have stopped 9-11? Well it would have done more to prevent it than the NOTHING the Bush administration did!

I voted for Al Gore in 2000 and would vote for him again in 2008 in a heart beat.  Gore is the next best hope for the US in my opinion....there will be no on the job training.....he knows what to do and how to do it. The potential for greatness is there.  I love that he makes fun of himself....great sense of humor and cutting wit....and I, like others, would like to see more of the “real” Al Gore.

It’s interesting how the most serious boring candidate ended up on Saturday Night Live telling jokes and the candidate that many considered to be a joke ended up being a president who takes his job way too seriously.

Actually, Bernie, 9/11 wouldn’t have happened on Gore’s watch.

How wonderful it must be to be untethered by the weight of a political campaign.  Al Gore certainly isn’t the stiff robotic politician that was portrayed during the 2000 campaign.  Good, funny clip.

Bernie, he mentioned having to deal with the threat of terrorism in 2001, so I don’t think he was imagining a 9/11-less world. Also, he managed how much better Afghanistan is now, hinting in this parallel universe, we still would’ve taken action (he has said publicly he would’ve done that), but unlike George he would’ve gotten it right. I doubt anyone could’ve prevented 9/11, but I also imagine any President would’ve responded to it far better than W.

I enjoyed how he mentioned the war with out warrant, but didn’t mention 9/11.  how convenient.  As, if he were elected, 9/11 wouln’t have happened.

Enjoyed this clip.  Where was this Al Gore during the 2000 election?
