Blitzer Fires Back at Lynne Cheney

Blitzer and Cheney
From CNN

Responding to an earlier interview in which the vice president’s wife ludicrously attacked his patriotism, Wolf Blitzer defiantly defended himself in the form of a rare, first-person statement to the viewing public.

Wolf Blitzer, via Crooks and Liars:

BLITZER: On Friday in the Situation Room on CNN, I interviewed the wife of the Vice President, Lynne Cheney. The interview generated quite a bit of commotion and we are going to replay the unedited version. First, some history. I have been covering the Cheneys for many years, including on a day-to-day basis when he was the defense secretary during the first Gulf War and I was CNN’s Pentagon correspondent. This—Mrs. Cheney has been a frequent guest on my programs. In recent years I’ve often invited her to discuss her new children’s books, but she’s always open to discussing the news of the day.

In this most recent interview, she, of course, knew we would be speaking about politics. That was reaffirmed to her staff only hours before the interview. As a former co-host of CNN’s Crossfire during the 1990s, she knows her way around the media. She was never shy in sparring with Democratic strategist Bob Beckel and co-host.

I was surprised when she came out swinging on Friday, surprised by what she said about CNN’s “Broken Government” series and the excellent one-hour report by our chief national correspondent John King. One of the most precise and respected journalists in Washington. At CNN’s decision to air sniper video provided to our intrepid Baghdad correspondent Michael Ware by insurgents in Iraq which Anderson Cooper specifically branded, I’m quoting now, “a single propaganda tape.” Surprised at her sniping at my patriotism.

    “a single propaganda tape”!

Please go back and HIDE under YOUR rock as YOU have been a “DO NOTHING Wife” in Washington!

Take the scarf and stuff SAME in YOUR Mouth over YOUR hubbys “torture”!

Please Return HER to SENDER and FAST!

I’ll Believe Wolf Blitzer FIRST, by far!  Further, he does a very GOOD JOB!

What else could be married to something like Cheney?
She derided a war hero Webb for his book. A book by a war hero that is required reading by some armed services ,as opposed to sleeping with a man that refused to serve his country in time of war but had no trouble sending them off with too few of them without personal armament and then has no problem keeping them after their discharge dates or cutting Vets benefits.
Okay he has enabled the sacrifice of a few thousand in order to make it up to Halliburton for his bad decision in buying KBR= that’s not bad for a republicscum

Mrs. Cheney had Blister for lunch. He has fallen into the trap of every other left-wing drive-by media and just got blaster.  Way to go Mrs. Cheney.  It speaks of how much you can depend on CNN.

Wolf Blitzer’s “Situation Room” is so tiresome, so monotonous, and so repeticious, that I’ve begun to “mute” everything but the commercials. And the Graphics before and after each segment are out of Star Wars. The only thing that was as bad was Fox’s telecast of the baseball playoffs. I think that if we could get rid of Wolf, and CNN, the war in Iraq would grind to a successful halt. Then we could start working on the Limbaugh and O’Reilly solution. With a little effort on our part, life could be beautiful again. P.S., I wouldn’t buy a used car from either of the Cheneys.

    Ah, Wolf Blitzer,

Mr. Monotone, Corporate war chearleader, maybe he is the one that is naive.  Maybe he should have known right before a major election he was being set-up, that a former Crossfire host could hold her own, and give as good as she gets...Except when it come to her bank accounts swelling with halliburton no/bid war and Katrina profits...I think that Wolf Blitzer should be ashamed of his weak response to her charges and to now respond with this seems a desperate act of weakness. Mrs. Cheney is no cookie baking grandma she is an Millitary Industrial Complex agent and that tough old Battle axe just lopped off Blitzer’s head...just like she did John Kerry with his “Cheneys Daughter is a Lesbian Comment”

Grow some balls Mr. Blitzer...Mrs. Cheney certainly has!

Now what made him turn againist the witch of the south? Could it be that she deridded a someone that wrote books on gays and pedophiles that Wolfe likes ? He sure took her to task on her past lesbo writings. Man , what a mean bitch witch.
Rome abroptly ended when homosexuality became rampent. No wonder America is FKD-up !

Reading all these comments makes it clear:  little by little the limited-hangout tide is rising:

The not-so-Strange-Love faction of the oligarchy has sent out the word: let out only as much as it takes to trip of the neo-con fascist madmen, hoping their fingers slip from the levers before they lauch WWIII, which, the marginally sane faction has rightly concluded, would be very bad for business.

Limited hangout is also pressure relief against the burgeoning 911Truth movement; e.g. NY Times / CBS poll last week reported only 16% still believe the “official” conspiracy theory is free of lies.

First time ever for me hearing Lynn Cheney on air. Webster Tarpley must be right. When asked if he thinks Dick Cheney directed the 9/11 coup, he answers, “Are you kidding? You’d entrust such a complex operation to an old drunk with 3 heart attacks, 4 pacemakers, can’t even handle a shot gun and has this a hyper-right wife yapping in his ear and turning up CNN while he’s trying to follow the inter-agency briefings?” Thanks for sharing.

No wonder Dick is so sour- imagine Christmas at the Cheney’s.

Seriously, this is another example of the Neocon Artistocracy’s treatment of ‘commoners’ like Wolf (and you and me and 98% of the American people).

Seems to me that the American people are treated like farm-raised quail: Keep ‘em down on the farm, keep ‘em stupid, docile, and fat until it’s time for the election-day hunt. Animal Farm, here we come?

Lynn Cheney is the most patriotic woman in the whole USA! How else would you describe a woman who served on Lockheed Corporation’s board of directors from 1994 to 2001, pocketing a hefty $120,000-a-year before surrending the position just before her husband’s inauguration.

So what if Lockheed is the world’s #1 military contractor, responsible for the U-2 and SR-71 spy planes, 117 stealth attack fighters, F-16, F/A-22 fighter jet, Hellfire, Javelin and nuclear missiles.

So what if in 2000 Lockheed spent $10 Million lobbying congress and the next year was awarded the world’s largest weapons contract ever, a $200 billion deal to build the Joint Strike Fighter.

So what if she is a Senior Fellow at American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, the leading architects of the Bush administration’s public policy.

Lynn Cheney is a true American patriot because only in the USA could such a crook be the second lady.

I can’t believe Lynne Cheney believed that CNN’s Situation Room program only wanted her as a guest to discuss her children’s book. If so, she is more naive than I thought. I wish it was Lou Dobbs, not Blitzer, that interviewed Lynne Cheney. Dobbs would have taken her to task when she remarked about how the government isn’t broken and that the economy is well for all.
I’m not a big fan of CNN, Foxnews, or any other cable news network (I watch the BBC mostly) but I do have some new respect for Blitzer because he has refused to back down. I thought his recent statement was eloquent and direct. The Bush administration only wants sycophants and not people who exchange ideas.

Way to go Wolf, are we to think the you have some backbone now?

You and the rest of mainstream media cheerleaders contributed to this Iraq war.

Thank goodness for Truthdig.com and the like.
