Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart took CNN to task on Monday over the frenzied tone of its North Korea nuclear test coverage.  With little to offer in the way of fact and 24 hours of programming to fill, the news network turned instead to conjecture and doomsday prophecy, prompting this observation from Stewart: “CNN:  It’s 99.9 percent what they don’t know.”

North Korea is not a threat to us. So far they have had dud missiles and a dud nuclear test, if that is, indeed, what it was.

Good Lord, people, get a freakin’ grip.

The biggest danger to us is living in the White House and in the Naval Observatory.

Anyone who still doesn’t get that is a damn fool!

Poor CNN. They must have had their competent people replaced with political appointees. I think they are forgetting what news means. They need to change their name to SNN, “Speculation Not News”.

Today’s television news media are basically fund raisers for their advertisers. Any event which may include any, or ideally all, of the following - shock, awe, blood, sex, the ghoulish, human suffering, fear - will be broadcast non-stop, or at least until sensation-hungry viewers start to drop by the wayside, because they guarantee a large audience.

At the drop of a hat the media will whip out their megaphones and become cheerleaders of doom because it sells. North Korea possibly setting off a nuclear device?  Made to order.

Jon Stewart is, as always sharp and funny. What he attacks, though, is depressing - a scaremongering, warmongering network.

Jon Stewart is quite funny and right to the point. CNN certainly lacked professionalism
in this story. I wonder if their writers are also working for Mr. G. Bush or the Fox News
network ?
