Stewart Unloads on Bush’s ‘Comma’ Remark

Bush's comma
From Comedy Central

Bush’s remark about the current bloodshed in Iraq simply representing a “comma” in the country’s history is fast becoming infamous. Stewart has a hilarious take on where, exactly, we might find that comma….

Watch it:

  • Earlier: Tony Snow tries to spin the “comma” remark

  • Crooks and Liars:

Jon has come to the conclusion that Bush’s job approval rating is so dismal (36% according to the latest TIME poll) that the reason has to be that Americans just don’t know exactly what his job is. So, using the Bush’s own words, Jon digs into the Presidential vault and tries to answer this pressing question.

Stewart also gives Congress some suggestions on how to spend their $20 million Iraq/Afghanistan War celebration money and explains Bush’s comma remark and Tony Snows attempt at putting it “into context”.

This John Steward show is exactly why we shouldn’t leave the future of our country and our lives to politicians like Bush and Company. And it will continue unless we actively participate, starting with the elections. Our democratic and republican leadership both leads us to the same place—Iraq, and and continuation of torture and other abhorrent behavior. That is hilarious. Both the videoclip AND the comment #27476 about the “coma”.
    Excellent one, Ewan.

Re:Ewan H. My apologies if your remark was meant as a joke…with authoritarians it’s hard to tell…but this president is NEVER right. Was he right before the war about WMD? When he claimed the IAEA had said Saddam was “6 months from a (nuclear, excuse me, nuculer)bomb?” (they never said it…it was a lie) That “no one could have known” 1)people would hijack airplanes and fly them into buildings 2)that the levees would break? (lie.lie) When he told Helen Thomas 2 months ago we went into Iraq ‘cause Saddam wouldn’t let the weapons inspectors in? (they were in Iraq…they had to delay the war for 2 days to get them out) Oh, I could go on all day…really. But what’s the point? If you’re too dim to get it by now, you’re a lost cause.

All good and nice, yet let us not forget the debt, the administration’s Al Capone transfer of national wealth into their own and corporate pockets, the lovely Nazi legislation introduced and passed to arrest anyone and everyone, etc.. It’s all a real chuckle. Oh, and by the way, they still have TWO more years to start a nuclear war.

If you listen carefully, what the President actually said was that “when the final history is written on Iraq [he/we] will be [in] a coma.” And of course, as always, he is right.
