To set the stage for the latest media-made kerfuffle of Campaign 2012, what happened was that GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann paid a visit Tuesday to “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” for which she was no doubt prepped to come off all hip and stuff, but her performance was undermined from the start by the lead-in song The Roots played as she walked onscreen: Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch.”
That the talk show’s resident musical act was covering the classic punk-ska paean to prevaricating and difficult women for the occasion was probably lost on Bachmann at first, but someone in her camp was on it, as by Wednesday she was calling for an apology. Her host was quick to respond—on Twitter, of course. —KA

AP via SFGate:
“This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite,” Bachmann said. She added, “This wouldn’t be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama. It shouldn’t be tolerated if it’s a conservative woman either.”
Fallon has tweeted an apology to Bachmann, saying he was “so sorry about the intro mess.” Bachmann said she hoped to speak with Fallon later Wednesday and wouldn’t mind going on his show again.

Oh, haha: Michele Bachmann and host Jimmy Fallon got along just fine during their highly predictable interview.
