
So, who’s Haiti’s next president? Well, here’s a hint: Before winning last month’s runoff with 67.6 percent of the vote, he was primarily known in his home country as a popular singer. And no, it’s not Wyclef Jean—it’s Michel Martelly, aka “Sweet Micky,” who began his transition to Haitian head of state with a tweet to his people. —KA

Just hours after he was declared the winner, Mr Martelly tried to rally support through his Twitter account.
“Let’s pick up our tools and get to work to clean up our country,” he tweeted.
But despite Mr Martelly’s calls for unity, there have been several violent incidents in a number of Haitian cities.
