Obama’s ‘Daily Show’ Stint a Success, Says Team Obama

Other sources may disagree, but the word around the White House on Thursday was that President Obama’s special appearance on “The Daily Show” the night before had been “a success,” according to White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. Interestingly (or perhaps scarily), Obama’s chat with Jon Stewart was apparently the most compelling issue on the minds of reporters in the press room that day.

At his daily briefing, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs faced more questions about the president’s “Daily Show” interview than any other topic. He defended the White House’s decision to schedule it, repeating that it was a way of speaking directly to voters who may not watch traditional news outlets.

Gibbs also said they expected the tough line of questioning.
