“The Simpsons” hasn’t been funny since Bill Clinton was president, but in its prime nothing was better. Now in season 23, the show just aired its 500th episode. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange guested, taping his lines from England.
In case you were wondering, no scripted TV show in history lasted longer than “The Simpsons,” which, despite airing on Fox, has managed throughout its long life to be subversive and political.
The BBC explains that in episode 500, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie are exiled from Springfield and end up moving in next to Assange:
They find a welcome in “the Outlands”, where Assange is their neighbour.
Bart asks: “How ya doin’, Mr. Assange?”
Assange replies: “That’s my personal information, and you have no right to know about it.”
