Barkley Shooting for Governor’s Post in Alabama
Posted on Aug 28, 2008
He wasn’t always known for his coolheaded leadership skills during his 16-year NBA career, but now, after almost 10 years off the court, Charles Barkley is apparently gearing up to compete in the political arena, telling the New York Daily News that he aims to run for governor of Alabama in a few years.
Rush & Molloy in the New York Daily News:
“I’m planning to run for governor of Alabama in 2014,” he told us, adding that he’s an independent. “I have to live there for seven years; I bought my house there last year. I have homes in Arizona and Pennsylvania, but Alabama needs more help.”
So, while he’s getting ready for his gubernatorial run, is there a job in the Obama administration that he’d like?
“Sir Charles” in charge: Barkley may follow Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura as an athlete-entertainer elected to public office.
