When Soundtracks Do the Talking: Michele Bachmann Edition

Oh, haha: Michele Bachmann and host Jimmy Fallon got along just fine during their highly predictable interview.

To set the stage for the latest media-made kerfuffle of Campaign 2012, what happened was that GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann paid a visit Tuesday to “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” for which she was no doubt prepped to come off all hip and stuff, but her performance was undermined from the start by the lead-in song The Roots played as she walked onscreen: Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch.”

That the talk show’s resident musical act was covering the classic punk-ska paean to prevaricating and difficult women for the occasion was probably lost on Bachmann at first, but someone in her camp was on it, as by Wednesday she was calling for an apology. Her host was quick to respond—on Twitter, of course.  —KA

Fishbone’s 1985 original version is posted below. Click here to see the clip on “Late Night”—without the intro music.

AP via SFGate:

“This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite,” Bachmann said. She added, “This wouldn’t be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama. It shouldn’t be tolerated if it’s a conservative woman either.”

Fallon has tweeted an apology to Bachmann, saying he was “so sorry about the intro mess.” Bachmann said she hoped to speak with Fallon later Wednesday and wouldn’t mind going on his show again.

It does seem that this song hit home. Was it deliberate? Well considering the outrageous and hurtful things Ms. B. says about other people and the working poor. She is a bit thin skinned?

@Derek Wain

Umad bro?

Imagine what would have happened if Bachmann had lied about Obabo spending $200 million a day for a trip to India. Wait! That did happen, then the Roots played a song about a lyin ass bitch. Stop your victimization, you damn victim.

Michelle Bachman gleefully declared that she would use torture, waterboarding, without a second thought.

Torture is illegal in the United States, and Bush cannot travel abroad because he will be arrested as a war criminal, so where is all the press outrage about candidates joyfully declaring the use of illegal practices?

So much for the decency of the falling empire.

Why would anyone have someone like this on a ntionally televised entertainment program? Doesn’t she and her fellow lunatics get enough free air time as it is? And to say that she was embarassed? Please, if she isn’t each time she looks in the mirror she is immune to the emotion.

I agree sharksbreath. What does Bachmann expect? She
constantly spews out nonsense and then demands that
everyone treat it as fact. And this doesn’t even
address her viciousness toward others such as her
endorsement of torture.

She just puts on her Sunday dress, fluffs her hair
and thinks she’s squeaky clean. One wonders if she
believes herself. I thought it not only incredibly
appropriate but way past due.

Bachmann is a liar and whether she recognizes that or
not is immaterial. She’s got a lot of nerve thinking she’s of the same stature or deserving the same respect as Ms Obama.

Note to Bachmann: People don’t disrespect you because you’re a conservative, they despise you because you are a VICIOUS LIAR. I recommend you STFU if you would like even a modicum of respect.

Derek: A Nascar crowd booed Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Biden
during an event to honor the troops.

Nascar and the GOP already has the sewer occupied.

The funny thing is that Bachman went right to the
debate the next day and started being the lying AB
she is.

If Michele Obama went around lying all the time you
might have a point. But it’s really the only thing
Michele Bachman is good at. Lying.

Hence the song.

Imagine what would have happened if the Team Obama media jackals NBC had tried that on Michele Obama. The vile NBC sllimeballs will have to grovel to MB. NBC has become the sewer pit of the nation.
