When Dmitry Met BonoPosted on Aug 25, 2010
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev took some time away from the Kremlin on Tuesday to chill at his resort home by the Black Sea, sip tea and talk saving the world and whatnot with U2’s do-gooder frontman Bono. Here we have an example of 21st century celebri-plomacy at its star-struck best. Meanwhile, we’re amused by the AP’s characterization of Medvedev as “a well-known fan of the classic rock acts Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.” Good to know that Russia’s president and every 13-year-old boy in America have something in common. —KA

Bono, the shameless self-promoter, pay some taxes instead of evading them.
PS the music isn’t that good.

FYI - Do-gooder Bono hides a good portion of his money in Amsterdam as a tax haven - why doesn’t he put it in Africa if he wants to help them so much! Why does he want other governments to give to Africa (i.e. your money) when he wants to hide his - even from his native Ireland? I’m not impressed with this guy.

Putin’s riding Harley Davidson; Medvedev’s breaking bread with Bono. And yet, no cries of travesty is ever heard of. Am I missing something? Since when Russia stopped on being evil empire? Jokes aside, if Bono along with other super-good-doers is serious about what he’s doing, I suggest him being much more discriminate in making friends with dictators. Look inside the nested doll, it’s pretty nasty in there. Bono, shaking hands publicly with Medvedev, Putin and others from the clique, makes you no good. Neither does it any good for ordinary people. Iphone, Bono, whats next on the list to entertain little Dima?

More than a small touch of snide in this report but—well it’s better than what we lived through during the Cold War for ten years or so.
Go, Bono! Go anybody who has the money and the guts to try to heal some of the world’s wounds!
