Uncensored Playboy Is (Not) Coming to the iPad

According to a tweeting Hugh Hefner, Playboy magazine, “both old & new” is coming to the iPad, and it “will be uncensored.” That’s somewhat surprising, considering that Apple CEO Steve Jobs once claimed the iPad was designed to offer “freedom from porn.” —PZS

Update: As it turns out, Apple still isn’t ready for R-rated content.

Engadget:

From its very first issue in 1953 to its latest incarnation, the full catalog of Playboy Magazine is coming to the iPad this March. And not only that, it’ll be faithful to its original form by arriving to your Apple slate uncensored. Such is the word direct from the man responsible for that first copy, one Mr. Hugh Hefner. Anyone who’s followed Apple’s App Store rulings and Steve Jobs’ forthright comments on the subject of keeping adult material off mobile devices will surely find this a bemusing, if not entirely inconsistent, decision. The details of how this slice of software will be delivered to the iPad (and what restrictions it may come with) will be most intriguing indeed.

One man’s porn is another man’s art! Playboy was never pornographic in the true sense.  For an item to be pornographic, whether in print or film/video, it must depict some sort of vivid sexual act or sexual depravity.  Full frontal photos of either naked women or men is not pornography——it’s just anatomy!

Has Hugh Hefner or Playboy contributed to morality in the U.S.?  Or anywhere ?

Playboy is to U.S. morality as the GHWBushSr family is to peace.

C’mon now people…by today’s lax standards, the carefully airbrushed Barbie dolls in Playboy are anything but pornographic. This blog comes off sounding like an old scolding auntie…

Please don’t call Playboy porn. Erotica, maybe. Not everything sexual is pornography.
