Tiger Woods to Tee Off at Masters

Tiger Woods tips his cap after making a birdie at the 91st PGA Championship at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., last August.

Tiger Woods’ intermission is coming to a close. On Tuesday, Woods confirmed reports that he would be hitting the green again at next month’s Masters tournament in Augusta, Ga.

AP via Google News:

Woods has not competed since Nov. 15 when he won the Australian Masters for his 82nd victory worldwide. Twelve days later, he crashed his car into a tree outside his Florida home, setting off shocking revelations that he had been cheating on his wife.

“The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it’s been a while since I last played,” Woods said.

“I have undergone almost two months of inpatient therapy and I am continuing my treatment,” he said. “Although I’m returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life.”

Gives “Shwooshhhh” a whole new meaning!

It’s my understanding that research demonstrates that most MALES in the animal kingdom are NOT NATURALLY MONOGAMOUS.

Our western culture, is very big on “denial” and as in so many things, pretends this is not so. It concocts all sorts of screwball rules and sanctions to support these artificial boundaries, NONE OF WHICH ACTUALLY WORK VERY WELL in spite that a few of them make do make some sense.

While Tiger is #1 at reading the wind, distance and what club to use on the golf course, he’s a complete amateur at behavior that the French have raised to an art - what we call “adultery.”

But his BIG mistake was not keeping his FLY CLOSED. It was NOT KEEPING HIS BIG MOUTH SHUT TIGHT. He did even more damage to his status in the minds of men with his “press conference” than did the original revelation. What he should have done with his four month hiatus was go to France and TAKE LESSONS on how to have a mistress or two and still keep his world from disintegrating around him.

By the time the stench around this fiasco dies down Tiger will be far too old to care.

So what? The guy’s a sleaze. It wasn’t a one nighter; this went on for 2 1/2 yrs.
I hope the galleries (from now on) give him the CHEETAH. I don’t care what he
shoots.

I’m sorry but I’m entirely missing the “news” here.

Mr. Woods’ apparently is very good at hitting a little ball with a stick. And sticking his balls… oh, forget it.

Tiger and his ilk are DIVERSIONS. ENTERTAINMENT. In my book, to watch professional athletes “do their thing” is something I do when I have absolutely nothing useful to do.

How did these trained seals work their way so far up the ladder of what’s really important to become “news?”

Not to dig too deeply for a cliche example, but, folks, there are thousands of children starving and dying EVERY DAY in other parts of the world… hell, thousands at least going to bed hungry every night right in the USA!

It seems to me that a concerted effort to wipe out this misery TRUMPS EVERYTHING to do with professional sport. What am I missing? I guess it’s this skewed attitude that keeps me in the “odd duck” category.

the better to delve the moral implications of this story, that we might all be chastened other than in terms of diminished advertising revenue, i’d like to know rielle hunter’s thoughts on tiger’s feelings about mattel’s “mad men” dolls.

If being unfaithful to one’s spouse would be a cause for denying the trespasser to earn an income forever at least 50% of our workforce would be unemployed.

Somehow that seems very awkward.  The Masters is so traditional and Protestant and white and formerly(?) racist.  I think he is going to shock the nervous systems of some number of those traditionally-inclined (recovering racists?) men folk.  Remember: Mr. Woods made considerable sport with a good many white women.  And one of these women is on record saying that Mr. Woods digs men.  Talk about 1st-tee jitters!

Yeah! Good on ya Tiger. The PGA is one dull and boring thing to watch when the
Tiger isn’t there. Tiger’s personal troubles have NOTHING to do with golf. Yup.
Glad you’re coming back. Gits ‘em Tiger and win the Masters!
