The new cultural center in Ariel, a Jewish settlement deep inside the West Bank.

It may be obvious to some, but Palestinians aren’t the only people upset about Israel’s settlement activity. More than 60 Israeli theater professionals have joined a boycott against a new West Bank cultural center in Ariel, an Israeli settlement 12.5 miles within Palestinian territory.

Members of the boycott vowed to refuse to work in productions within Israeli settlements, believing their participation would “strengthen the settlement enterprise.” —JCL

The Guardian:

Dozens of Israeli actors, playwrights and directors have signed a letter refusing to take part in productions by leading theatre companies at a new cultural centre in a West Bank settlement, prompting renewed debate over the legitimacy of artistic boycott.

More than 60 professionals have joined the protest over plans by Israel’s national theatre, the Habima, and other leading companies to stage performances in Ariel, a settlement 12.5 miles inside the West Bank. The letter, to Israel’s culture minister, Limor Livnat, says the new centre for performing arts in Ariel, which is due to open in November after 20 years in construction, would “strengthen the settlement enterprise”.

“We want to express our dismay with the intention of the theatres’ managements to perform in the new auditorium in Ariel and hereby declare that we will refuse to perform in the city, as in any other settlement.” Israel’s theatre companies should “pursue their prolific activity inside the sovereign territory of the state of Israel within the boundaries of the Green Line”.

Here’s a news item from earlier today that you won’t find reported
at this wretched Jew-hating website:

Do you realize how utterly insane this makes you sound?  I’m sure you don’t,
which is sad.

At least hamas claims responsibility when it commits crimes, which is more than
we can say for the entity with way more blood and crimes on their hands.

Well whaddaya know - Truthdig actually reported the murders. Good on them, except for calling the Jewish victims “settlers”. For that qualification (and less-than-subtle wink and nod) I am more disgusted than ever. Nothing justifies the genocidal killing spree we routinely see from Hamas, even if some Jewish civilians happen to live in disputed territory. Are you listening, Truthdig???

Here’s a news item from earlier today that you won’t find reported at this wretched Jew-hating website:

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3947213,00.html

Hamas claimed full responsibility for the lethal shooting attack in south Mount Hebron Tuesday in which four Israelis were killed.

Abu Ubaida, spokesman for Izz al-Din al-Qassam said: “Qassam Brigades announces its full responsibility for the heroic operation in Hebron. Our men have returned safely to their bases.”

He further noted, “This attack is a chain in a series of attacks, some have been executed, and others will follow.”

OK, no surprise there - Hamas proudly claims responsibility for the murders.
And let’s see who the victims were:

http://www.jpost.com/Israel/Article.aspx?id=186614

The four were two couples – one aged 25 and the other 40. One of the women was pregnant. According to eyewitness reports, the terrorists succeeded in hitting the passengers in their initial fire but then approached the car and shot the occupants at close range.

“When we arrived on the scene, all four doors of the car were open and four bodies were strewn on the road,” Magen David Adom paramedic Guy Ronen told The Jerusalem Post. “We saw that the vital organs had been struck by a very large number of bullets, and that there was no chance of saving their lives,” he added.

A ZAKA volunteer who arrived on the scene recognized his wife’s body. “We saw him crying at the scene and didn’t understand what was hapenning at first. It wasn’t the first disaster he saw,” his colleauge, Isaac Berenstein, told the Post. Then he shouted, “that’s my wife!’ That’s my wife!’” The volunteer was immediately removed from the scene by his colleagues and taken to his home in Bet Hagai.

Anyone wonder why you never see typical Hamas atrocities like this reported in Truthdig?

Did these actors, playwrights, and directors have their Mao caps and Che t-shirts on when they signed this letter in unison? I think so.
