Team Obama’s Creative Crowd-Sourcing FailPosted on Oct 20, 2011
Nice try there, Mr. President. Although he’s gotten some lift before from the resuscitated publishing relic that is Rolling Stone magazine, Jann Wenner’s music rag didn’t give POTUS a pass for a cute idea his promotions team recently cooked up that offered designers the exciting chance to create a poster for Obama’s campaign for absolutely no pay. There you go, artists—the utter lack of change you’ve been waiting for. —KA

I agree with Rebecca; props to RS.
Two print mags I keep going back to
specifically for their stories are
Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair.
Oh, and the poster, consider it
done. Here it is:

I just want to stand up here for Rolling Stone. I think their music coverage sucks because it is too mainstream. But, they have published good writing and journalism all along. They have Matt Taibi, who clearly spells out the crimes of Goldman Sachs and the other robber barons, in a way that is accessible to us mere mortals. And that Michael Hastings interview with whats-his-face General Mcrystal (spelling?)that revealed much about the military and caused Mcrystal to resign. The have published articles and pictures of civilians murdered in Afghanistan by US soldiers for fun. You read stuff there that is not widely offered elsewhere. Give them their props.
