Spike Lee on BP: Obama Shouldn’t Have Trusted Execs

It’s hardly a surprise that Spike Lee would have something provocative to say about a newsy controversy, but Lee doesn’t spare President Obama his criticism over Obama’s handling of the BP oil spill catastrophe in an interview with GQ scribe Mark Healy. Lee also believes that the location of the spill had something to do with the administration’s less-than-mercurial disaster response.  —KA

Page Six in the New York Post:

“[Former BP president Tony] Hayward does not give a [bleep]. The thing we don’t talk about is that 11 Americans lost their lives and it took seven weeks to invite their families to the White House. I’m not trying to bash my man, but that’s a long time.”

Everyone seems surprised that Obama is more comfortable in a roomfull of suits and briefcases than with “The People.” Mild admonishments like those from Spike Lee seem to assume that “his man” has just somehow gone astray.

Yeah Spike and I guess you’re pretty proud of the way your man has handled Van Jones, Sherrod and the ACORN debacle.

Sorry Spike, love your movies, but your man is an empty suit with no backbone.

hello. congrats on what money has bought into your
life, Mr. Lee -CQ. is yo man not representin? is he a
wedge between the brothers and the rest of the nation,
and he was just using color when it was profitable for
him? did he make you believe, he was not part of the
machine of keep-down hypocrisy? you are too high to be
ever dissin yo man, so get off the second thoughts
bandwagon, before you lose the buzz.
