Lambert’s ‘AMA’ Act Costs Him ‘GMA’ Gig

Adam Lambert, left, kisses a fellow performer during his closing act at the 37th annual American Music Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Over-the-top pop star Adam Lambert may once have been constrained by the unwritten rules of competition on “American Idol” when it came to his sexuality, but he made a notable departure from those days during his provocative performance at Sunday’s American Music Awards. Looks as if that act cost him a spot on Tuesday’s “Good Morning America” after ABC suits were rattled by his frank displays of homoeroticism, but, for his part, Lambert didn’t seem upset by their decision, nor did he harbor regrets.  —KA

AP via Google News:

Lambert was to sing Wednesday on “GMA,” but the network said Tuesday it was canceling the openly gay singer because “we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.”

While singing his new song, “For Your Entertainment,” at the awards program on Sunday, Lambert kissed a male keyboardist, fondled a dancer and had another dancer briefly stuff his face in Lambert’s crotch. The performance prompted many complaints to ABC, and the network cut out the brief oral sex simulation for its West Coast broadcasts.

“Obviously, I respect their decision — they gotta do what they gotta do,” Lambert said Tuesday in an interview with Ryan Seacrest. “It’s too bad — I think there were a lot of fans who were excited to come see me.

“They probably had a lot of pressure coming at them from certain people who weren’t happy about it,” he said.

please, why are you guys shocked?

Didn’t you see the pictures of life for Adam Lambert BEFORE American Idol fame?

Middle Class America is not all THAT familiar with the breed of gay Adam Lambert is, we are still hypnotized by the HRC ( human Rights Campaign) gay and sanitized “Will and Grace” gay of T.V. Or, the kind of gay that gets profiled on “Family Guy”.

In any case, he shoulda toned it down. I would HATE to see his career wasted by the higher ups who ARE deeply homophobic.

This is so disgusting. As a gay musician, I seriously
feel sick to my stomach. I am tolerant of men who are more effeminate, but they are NOT indicative of the larger gay community, and these Bravo/American Idol queers really are perpetuating their own negative stereotypes. AND THIS IS NOT MUSIC! These are sounds specifically designed by experts to please an ignorant mass audience. This article has nothing to do with gay rights, this is about the decay and dumbing down of our culture.

so much fun to see the Puri-tyrannical masses squirm when sexuality is on
display. Extra bedtime prayers and cleansing rituals will abound in lily-white ex-
urbs throughout our Xian nation.

The more people scream, the more money he makes.

It’s the American Way.

Really? Is the scarcity of news at such a level that Truthdig, a site I proudly have
bookmarked, has aligned itself with People and Us? Please tell us that a 20-
something intern took controls of the ship and managed to defame your site with
this douche-bag. I have no idea who this guy is other than that he appears to be
heavily into makeup. So be it, but why are his antics anywhere near this site?
