L.A. Residents Try to Save Banksy MuralPosted on Feb 17, 2011According to the people posting on this Facebook event page, Urban Outfitters, a retailer that usually tries just a little too hard to be cool, is threatening to paint over a new work by the world’s most famous street artist. We can’t confirm whether Urban Outfitters is that boneheaded, but it’s nice to see the public rise to the defense of art, regardless. LAist has the story here. Keep tabs on Facebook here.

Reminds me of a quote (that I can’t track down) I heard once, that everyone would love to hang a Van Gogh on their living room wall but no one would want to invite the man himself into their house.

I absolutely loved Banksy’s documentary fim, Exit Through the Gift Shop. If you have not already seen it, I highly recommend a viewing. And I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

seems weird to me… doesnt Urban Outfitters SELL banksy books and other “street artist” books? but they probably couldnt pay him to paint something FOR one of their stores. they should take it as a blessing….
