 Iranian Press Calls Mrs. Sarkozy a ‘Prostitute’Posted on Aug 30, 2010
Here’s a riddle: What do you call a former supermodel, sometime recording artist and current French first lady when she opposes the stoning death of an Iranian woman accused of adultery? According to certain rather presumptuous members of the Iranian press, when the woman in question is Carla Bruni, the answer is a prostitute. Oh. —KA

Truthdig claims this case is only about adultury, while other stories include that she is accused of being an accessory to murder. A crime that also carries the death penalty in this country.
As for this quote about Carli Bruni. Its a translated quote, so in all likely hood when dealing with Iran its a poor translation. The difference between a literal prostitute and just a slut is not usually translatable. In english for instance the word “Whore” means both. And Bruni has been called a whore in a number of western papers already, its kind of what she is known for. She does sell her sexual image for money and is famous for dating celebrities such as Mick Jagger while he was still married

One newspaper called her a hooker, one. Not 20, not 30, not the entire “press”. One. This is like Fox News telling a story about how Mohammed is a dog, then Iran picking it up and saying that all news outlets in America said this. Why must you and the rest of the media try and stoke the fire?

This woman is beautiful! And I admire her stand against stoning as a punishment for adultry.

Instead of protesting against Iranian laws, Mrs. Sarkozy should protest her husband’s recent, mass deportation of Romanian and Gypsy immigrants. Or she should protest the economic policies that keep bringing down her husband’s poll numbers.
What is happening in Iran with the sentenced woman is indeed sad, but a Sarkozy’s word here really has no moral value.
