High Fashion in the Time of RecessionPosted on Dec 7, 2011
Granted, he is the head designer at Chanel, and haute couture has never been about realism or frugality, but “Kaiser” Karl Lagerfeld might do well to drop his socioeconomic commentary to the level of a whisper breathed to like-minded luxe junkies from behind a lacy fan in Paris. “Kaiser” Karl let fly with some fanciful notions about the function of fashion in the midst of a recession during Tuesday’s runway show at the Grand Palais in Paris. Generous interpretation: Perhaps he was channeling the sentiments of some of his high-end clientele who may find dropping tens of thousands of euros on Chanel creations to be just the antidote to the era’s gloomy mood. —KA

And? What’s the story exactly. Lagerfeld is right when he asks who gives S&P the
right to give an A.
Anyway the NYTimes recently reported that high end luxury goods is doing better
Report thisthan ever as if there were no recession, I guess those who could afford to buy
those goods before the financial crises are still in a position to buy them now,
after all its not the middle-class who can afford high fashion items.

Paris - Bombay runway! WOW what a show… It must be thrilling to consider the propect of clothing all those multitudes of people in his “original” designs. What could be more “ready-to-wear” than the simplicity and exquisite beauty of the texitles of the Indian saris ?
