After days of protests over reform, the Obama administration has, in fact, created a change that many Americans can now see and feel. The new law, though imperfect, represents progress in a new direction. However, it seems that for this step forward some Americans have taken two steps back.

The first step back took the form of angry racist and homophobic rhetoric aimed at Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., and Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., on March 20. Lewis was called a “nigger” and Frank was called a “faggot,” as tea party protesters shouted “Kill the bill….....”

Let me see…the Teaparty wants to repeal the 14th Amendment (and some want the 13th and 15th to go, too, re-allowing slavery).  There are numerous baggers with signs that read “I don’t want socialism (translation: a fair deal for others) you arrogant Kenyon (translation: Uppity nigger)!”

I guess apathy towards race in everyday interactions could be seen by many as a positive developement. I commend the youth of america if that turns out to be the first step towards acceptance and equality. But, in the upper ohio valley I still hear the word “Nigger” in everyday conversation in public places. I guess the only thing that can change some attiitudes is six feet of dirt.

You make lite of a serious observation.  People are rightly outraged by the words of Mr. Galliano.  Some would argue that it’s right to condemn the words of a small number of Tea Party protesters.

But a black man beaten and called a Nigger by union thugs, a woman and her male companion viciously attacked by a group of men as the two left a republican fundraiser, a man having the tip of his finger bitten off at a Tea Protest and a democratic State Legislator yelling, “You’re F*#king Dead” is nearly ignored on this Web space.

Breaking Report: Wisconsin Republican Glenn Grothman was just mobbed by a group of union thugs.

Republican Senator was mobbed by union thugs as he approached the capitol today. He was held for several minutes and was forced to call for assistance. The whole incident was captured on camera.

In another outrageous incident a democratic lawmaker in Wisconsin shouted at another lawmaker; “Your F*cking Dead!”

According to local WTMJ news radio, a number of witnesses heard Rep. Gordon Hintz Shout at Rep. Michelle Litjens “You’re f***ing dead!”

Where’s the outrage?

Anyone remember Mr. Gladney being attacked by Union thugs last year?

Kenneth Gladney, 38, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was awaiting treatment for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers called him a Nigger just prior to the attack.

“It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said.

Where’s the outrage?
