Bigelow Pushing Forward With ‘Kill Bin Laden’Posted on May 2, 2011
After her Oscar win for “The Hurt Locker,” director Kathryn Bigelow set her sights on another ambitious project that has taken on new significance over the last 24 hours, given the subject matter: “Kill Bin Laden.” However, as Deadline’s Mike Fleming pointed out Monday, the movie isn’t solely focused on the late al-Qaida leader. —KA

This woman has no shame. Not content with turning the Iraq war into a law and order issue- the bad guys set bombs and the good (American) guys defuse them- now she wants to get her grubby, lying mitts on the story of bin Laden. Stand by for a propaganda fest not seen since ‘United 93’. ‘The Hurt Locker’ was a disgrace: not one shred of context, no explanation for why the bombs were being put together or why there was an insurgency. No explanation for the occupation of Iraq or the invasion or the lies and deceit that led to the invasion. And in the end the bullshit ‘theory’ that men have wars because they’re addicted to adrenalin. Who knew that adrenalin and testosterone were enough to kill 1.3 million Iraqis? No mention of the immense profits that have been made from the war by the United States and its corporations either. I despise Bigelow and her sloppy and dishonest movie from the bottom of my bottom. And the next one will be even worse because if she wants to get good reviews she can’t possibly tell the truth about bin laden and his relationship with America and Pakistan’s military and intelligence elites.

Although I applaud her accomplishments as a woman’s director…
she is definitely making accomplishments by celebrating and adopting male machismo.
Somehow her accomplishments are less admirable because of it.
