Eric Holder
U.S. Dept. of Justice

Eric Holder, HBO viewer and attorney general, would like to revive “The Wire” if at all possible, please.

Looks like Attorney General Eric Holder is a big fan of HBO’s “The Wire”—so much so, in fact, that he has strongly suggested that the crime drama’s writers work on another season of the retired series or perhaps a made-for-cable movie.

Holder put in his request Tuesday with three of the show’s actors in attendance during a Justice Department panel discussion about children and drugs. Fine, but how might his efforts be channeled into the realm of nonfiction?  —KA

Reuters:

I want to speak directly to Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon: Do another season of ‘The Wire’,” Holder said, drawing laughter and applause from the audience. “That’s actually at a minimum. … If you don’t do a season, do a movie.  We’ve done HBO movies, this is a series that deserves a movie. I want another season or I want a movie. I have a lot of power Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon.”

Well, since Holder’s agenda is arresting anti-war
protesters and threatening medical marijuana providers,
I guess its a good thing he’s lazing around watching
TV.  Please watch more TV. In fact, lets shoot a new
season of The Wire just to distract him.  I’d rather he
was watching TV than running his Terror Task Forces in
every city that pry into our lives.  Maybe we should
pitch in to get Mr. Holder Directv since they’ve been
showing all the re-runs of The Wire lately.

I concur with Atty-Gen. Holder’s opinion of ‘The Wire’. I think it the finest mini series ever, though its seven year run makes the term sort of silly.

I wish, however, that our nation’s highest law enforcer was far too busy investigating and prosecuting our nefarious financial industry executives to actually watch TV.

Why is this news?
The guy wants his entertainment, and is in a position
to speak directly to the producers of his favorite show
- I’d like to see alot more NASCAR and would probably
do the same if I were there.
= Don’t misunderstand, I think this buckethead is a
stone cold racist peace of shit, but even they have a
right to watch a show….

One of the sub themes in The Wire is how the Feds
pulled all of their people off of domestic crime and
put their resources into terrorism.  If the local
cops want any federal help, they have to find a
‘terrorist’ angle to present to the Feds.  Or, since
those were Republican years, the Feds were interested
in any corrupt Democrats they could nail.  But,
murderous drug kingpins were of no interest to the
Feds.

That hasn’t changed a bit under Holden as far as I
can tell.

Simon and Burns were good. If challenged, they could
probably come up with a new season that focuses a lot
on what’s wrong with the FBI and the Feds and
Homeland Security and all the rest.  Mr. Holden might
not like it if he gets what he asked for.

The ultimate Burrell likes The Wire?

But hey, Mr. Holden makes the crime stats look good.

Never watched “The Wire”.  I understand it’s a crime show.  Is it about cocaine-snorting, white-collar banksters who defraud middle-class, and working-poor people, while paying themselves multi-million dollar salaries?

So nice to know that Mr. Holder enjoys watching a show about a crime-ridden environment that was created by the economic policies of the current and past five presidential administrations (I’m including the Carter administration since he started deregulation). Must be nice to be so high up that you consider poverty and desperation entertaining.
