Swinton swings: Actor Tilda Swinton is doing her part to put the kibosh on Donald Trump’s sporting plan in Scotland.

Donald Trump is plotting to plop down a deluxe golf resort in an “environmentally sensitive” part of Scotland—a plan that’s getting some of the locals good and riled up, including actor Tilda Swinton, according to the AP. Swinton has added her name to a petition signed by some 15,000 Scots to block Trump from breaking ground, which does not please The Donald.  —KA

AP via Google News:

Trump’s Scotland representative, George Sorial, responded by saying the actress was siding with “extremists.”

Trump was granted permission to build the golf course on an environmentally sensitive stretch of coast after a public inquiry in 2008.

I wonder whom did he have to bribe to get it done? Notice the pattern here, all these golf playing assholes business criminals want to have the best lands for their mindless and meaningless activity.

I don’t know about that, Trumps hair may be an environmental issue all by it self!

Its interesting that this is being touted as an environmental issue
Because its not really that at all.

It is however an eminent domain issue.  If you read the article it says they are evicting people to make way for the golf course.  That’s much more of a problem then the environmental stuff to me.  Especially since golf courses are not really known as big polluters.  Yes they have to clear land and use lots of water.  But they keep the land up on golf courses.  Its not as if they are going to be dumping sulfur run-off in the rivers

The last thing Scotland needs is another so called ‘upscale’ golf course.  The Aberdeen Councillors are a herd of cowards bullied into agreeing this ridiculous proposal by Trump.  Threatened by silly accusations that Aberdeen is closed for business if they declined the application and dazzled by the ‘glamour’ of such a high profile spiv’s spurious attentions they have completely failed in their duty to protect the public good.  Trump and his team would be well advised to pack up and go home before they create another white elephant. Let’s hear Tilda Swinton makes much more noise!

Maybe Trump will try to get Tilda to work for him or even run for Mrs America, then he can fire her? Tacky Trump or talented Tida? Who would you prefer as a neighbor?

Wild life before idle life. The Trumps and the other golfers can now enjoy the hundreds of existing excellent golf courses and resorts in the UK. The same cannot be said for the wild life and the few recovering lowland natural areas left in Scotland. This is true for the rest of the UK and for Europe in general. Natural areas, sea shore, riverine, moor, forest, fen and the wildlife that lives there is the Earth’s fully ‘developed’ landscape. It is complete from mountain to ocean and is typically filled full of living creatures. Human golfers have taken enough land for their single use daytime sport.
