Sean Penn has pulled out of two upcoming film roles and may be taking a year off from acting. No word yet on his politicking schedule. The star had been set to appear in “Cartel” and “The Three Stooges.” Yes, those Three Stooges.

BBC:

Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn has abandoned plans to star in two forthcoming films.

His spokeswoman confirmed that he will no longer appear in The Three Stooges and Cartel, but declined to give a specific reason for backing out.

RAE- this is for you, I haven’t been able to get my comments or contankerous behaviour past my consceince. I was wrong in what I wrote about Mr.Penn (the picture is one of him obviously “serving someone in need”) The only thing I did right…in my last post to you, was not to sign it Madame Defarge (which was something I was tempted to do for my own amusement). Straight up, I appologize period. Do with it what you like.

Rae-
true to form, skip substance, why would that matter, that would mean you would be forced to listen for content.  Continue to convince yourself…you are enlightened…the French revolution…was a long boil-over reaction to your brand of elitist punk. Have another glass of Chablis… Rae

Rae, you may be right. It’s just that Sean has such a strong character, he maybe could poke at our legislators with a progressive stick. They seem to have a lot of trouble getting anything done, they pass a lot of silly or empty legislation, but rarely pass anything that means anything to we the people.

A word of advice: NEVER use the word “spell” in your English language postings… at least until you learn how.

Mr.Penn, is an actor at best, that is it.  Like most actors or “players” they are paid large sums of $‘s to make fantasy appear real…he should stop POLITICS all-together; and stick to what he understands. Like most of the activist actors, He is an embarrassment to the United States,Penn is someone known to have anger issues, and leftest politics. He needs to keep himself emerged in hollywood where conceit, fantasy & delussion   thrive.  He is affraid to play a “stooge” because he idolizes himself; and is afraid of the normal & educated majority… drawing the obvious parrallel.  I realize those of you emerged in fantasy-land… couldn’t figure this out… it had to be spelled out for you, of course you could just wake up too.

Sorry, I don’t agree that Sean should go for politics.

You can be an “agent for change” from either within or without. Often a voice from outside the fray is far more effective.

Besides, has there ever been a “politician” who has maintained his/her independence, ethics and standards once elected and under the “gun” of the “party?” I don’t think so.

In my opinion, Sean is FAR more effective using his celebrity sniping for the issues than he ever would be buried in the bowels of the cesspool of politics.

I’ve always supported Boxer, but Feinstein, ugh, who votes for that #itch.
I hope Sean is thinking about entering politics, he would be super at it, he’s confident, intelligent, and a real humanist. (and like you say, he has enough money that he can tell the lobbiests to go to hell.
Run, Sean, Run….....

I saw “Milk” again and Sean Penn’s performance is mindblowing. Whenever I watch Penn’s performance I believe I am watching Harvey. His mannarisms, intonation, movement, humour, quirks—Penn just nailed it. Amazing film.

Maybe these upcoming films aren’t up to his standards? If Penn did run for Senate in California I’d vote for him. Feinstein and Boxer are a couple of phony liberal dems. I think Penn would walk the walk. After all, he’s made enough money to tell the lobbyists to go to hell; something Boxer and Feinstein would never do.

A man who has not let Hollywood or bags of money rob him of what is important in life. He always brings great depth to any role he undertakes and great compassion to our political debate.

It’s a thrill when someone of Mr. Penn’s celebrity uses his/her status to remind the rest of us that we’re not here to cheat and rape and pillage but to support those who honestly need it and to build safety and security for all.

Too few of “him.” FAR TOO MANY of the rest.

Thats too bad. I’ve never seen a bad Sean Penn movie. I am a real fan. He is a terrific actor as well as a terrific person and citizen with the power to reason.
Perhaps we will be surprised at what he has coming down the pipes.
