Turns out that Lou is just another “angry white man.”
And his rhetoric is tiresome to say the least.

I used to enjoy watching Lou Dobbs. I did not always agree with him, but, I felt he had integrity. Since he has devolved into show after show of immigrant bashing I can no longer watch his show without getting angry. Its too bad because I think he is playing to the lowest common denominator now and no longer represents the middle class that he was so proud of.

Like Photoshock, I also watched Lou Dobbs for a while.  He was very good when he did his “Attack on the Middle Class” tour, because it wasn’t centered on immigration.  I remember he talked about health care a lot.  But then it became the same old, same old, and the economy took are of most of the illegal immigration situation. 

Health care is the big issue right now for the middle class.  Obama has put it on the front burner and every plan, except for single payer, is going to hurt the middle class.  As long as the insurance industry and pharma and the AMA (only 25% of doctors belong) are in the middle class and poor are screwed.  His ratings would spike tomorrow if he started talking about single payer and all the other issues having to do with health care.

Dobbs like his contemporary O’Reilly have turned into middle aged white guys with an axe to grind. In O’Relly’s case, he keeps his audience titulated with culture warrior stories that stir up the base. Dobbs is just plain boring with his pit bull determination to beat the illegal immigration story to death, when the rest of America has moved on.  And contrary to the CNN spokesperson, Dobbs does a very poor job of covering any subject other than illegal immigration. His reporting bias leans very right, close to Hannity-right. So if you’re looking for unbiased news reporting, Dobbs is not your man. He also comes across as mean spirited which doesn’t help him. Add to that his permanent staff who don’t do more than just agree with everything Dobbs says. Even by the mediocrity of the cable news networks, Dobb’s show is pretty lame.

Lou had a good issue until this present economic collapse and the jobs dried up. Since I live in Texas, I have watched the change happen, quickly.

I knew that he was not the least bit Xenophobic. That is a false charge. He is just older and slower to focus on a primary issue he can get his head around. You can bet that will change. Once the does, he will know his subject and contribute to the public debate. He must not be into healthcare and the insurance scam, yet. He skipped over the investment banking debacle and Mozilla and the Countrywide mess.

It is true that the clock is ticking and he will not be allowed to blather away about secondary issues, like O’Reilly and that burned-out bunch of has-beens.

Swedes are what make Sweden Swedish. I know that is redundant, but I can’t think of Sweden as Swedish if they accede to al-sharia law, and family honor codes. And the recent economic refugees don’t seem to be assimilating. With current low birth rates for Swedes and high birth rates for Arab/Moslem populations, you could have an essentially Arab/African population in Sweden.

Now we are very concerned with preserving the cultures and peoples of First Nations, American Indians, African pygmies and Australian aboriginals. Shouldn’t the Swedes be concerned with their self preservation?

Dobbs is like all the other racist Hypocrits, bitching about Illegals in the same breath while screaming at Jose to shine his daughters riding boots before she enters the show ring.
It is actually mind boggling how easily these people talk out of both sides of their mouths at one time. Perhaps they are incorporating the other round orifice, like ventriloquist in reality. Oh they bitch about their ‘laziness’, their ‘stupidity’, their ‘demands’ for decent pay, housing or safety, their ‘shiftiness’...yet they continue to hire them. In fact they hire all these family members too. Then complain they are ruining our country.These are nothing more than modern day Plantation owners complaining and blaming the slaves for their woes.
Anyone who is a labor advocate, including Union members should be fighting for the rights of these workers- the represent the ‘floor’- the lowest level the Plantation owners wish to push ALL labor down to. In fact it is more aptly called the Subfloor.
They use this shadow workforce not only to increase profit margins, but as threats and scapegoats to the other workers. ‘Won’t accept these conditions, then I’ll hire a Mexican to take your job, who will’.
It’s time to stop wastng our time,effort and money on seeking out every illegal immigrant who submits an application - it’s time to go after those who accept the application and offer the job.If these people had decent well paying jobs in their own country- they wouldn’t be here in the first place.This is not just an American Worker issue this is a global labor force issue. This sweatshop mentality and Globe Trotting to find the cheapest indentured slave population must end.Human rights Always Trumps Corp Interests! At one point, I too, was sucked into the quagmire of Lou Dobbs’ belief system of anti-immigrant stances.
He is a very beguiling and charismatic character, who presents a well researched and emotive argument. But that’s where he stops, at CNN/HLN his ideas drew much attention.
He was the only true mainstream media person who attempted to talk about the then current immigration and border problems.
Now however, the economy and foreign policy are front and center issues and Mr. Dobbs in his ‘infinite wisdom’ has not moved from those issues to the newest things on the minds of those in his target audience. It seems to me, that the largely white, upper and middle class male, has abandoned the cause of Mr. Dobbs. They are now more concerned with the world’s view of America, the tanking economy and how they are going to survive the worsening economic crises, in the manner to which they have become accustomed. Should Mr. Dobbs turn his attention to these matters, then maybe he could regain his audience, but Obama bashing is not the way to the hallowed halls of audience attention.
Mr. Dobbs, is now on the way out of the mainstream media and will eventually do the same thing as all the rest of the wannabe Obama bashers, and will join the Faux News Network, and become the sensation of the day there. Much like the Glenn Beck debacle, he will draw attention for a time but hopefully sooner than later, Mr. Dobbs will fade into the place where he truly belongs, being a legend in his own mind.

Too much immigration and laxity on illegal aliens is one problem among many. Gays, Jews, and blacks don’t really benefit from the onslaught as many of those immigrant/illegal alien cultures look down upon them. Many Muslim and Latin American immigrant/illegal alien communities have a really sour attitude toward them. In France, French Jews are more likely to be victimized by Arab immigrant communities. In Sweden, native Teutonic women face intimidation, even rape from immigrant Moslem communities. I suppose if one were anti-semitic or homophobic or misogynistic, it would be the perfect cleansing of society to let in tons of legal and illegal aliens. Even better is for an antisocial elite who needs the chaos and cheap labor of these migrants to push for massive social engineering. It is patently illiberal to have an open border policy, for it treats all of humanity as being as fungible and indistinguishable as cattle.

Division and fear are great tools fostering public attention on non issues, divisiveness so useful for the constant diversion from the puppeteers of the Punch and Judy show.

It is almost as if fanatics, people who need Limbaugh like religion were already unhappy in their lives, symbiotic relationships of misfits. The need to hate and fan the fires of hate are most important in the distractions.

You are correct. The main issue now is getting E-verify funded, and the Democratic majority has been very stubborn about funding it.

Well, the issue of immigration may also have slowed because, the immigration laws are being enforced a little bit better, and there is less immigration, due to the economy.

Try not to confuse the issues, Dobbs isn’t the issue, immigration is. Saying that Mr. Dobbs is just the representative of angry white men and a blowhard is demaining and predjudiced, and simplifies the issues to the detriment of everyone involved in this debate.

There are many thousand of people in minority groups, many of them former immigrants themselves, who favor restrictions on immigration.

Either the media isn’t covering the immigration issue in Congress or Obama and the Congressional leadership have decided to leave the issue alone so as to introduce legislation again after Dobbs and other restrictionists have suffocated from lack of oxygen. The best thing Bush and the Dems did for the immigration restrictionists was to keep pushing the issue. This gave the open borders lobby plenty of public scrutiny. And it gave Dobbs plenty of grist for the mill. Such unpopular legislation has to be sneaked in before the anti-amnesty opposition has a chance to flood the Capitol with angry responses.
