Gordon Gekko rides again: Michael Douglas’ memorable corporate raider is coming back to the big screen.

What would have happened to the likes of Gordon Gekko, the ultra-sharky villain of Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street,” in the current economic climate? We’re about to find out, as Stone and Michael Douglas, who first brought the unabashedly greedy Gekko to life in 1987, are gearing up to make a sequel to the classic financial cautionary tale.

AP via Google News:

Douglas is reprising his role as Gordon Gekko and Stone is on board again to direct the sequel, which for now has the working title “Wall Street 2,” said 20th Century Fox spokesman Gregg Brilliant.

Brilliant said the project is timely and relevant given the state of the world.

“We need to keep the story line under wraps, but it’s literally ripped from today’s headlines,” Brilliant said. “It’s going to be very big and very cool.”

“At the end of the film, Gekko was headed to the slammer so I wonder what the plot will be?”

Options:

1) He gets out changes his name and becomes the CEO of AIG and CitiBank.

2) He gets out starts a radio talk show then changes his name to Rush Limbaugh

3) He get out, murders a former defense secretary and becomes George W. Bush’s vice-president.

This could be remarkably effective.  It sounds terrible, but we need more anger regarding Wall Street, not less.

Amazing how life imitates art or is it the other way around or doesn’t it matter?!

“Greed is good” is back bigger and better than ever, I presume. Maybe Oliver is going to get some old “Savings and Loan Debacle” cheats and crooks for the film. He can hire some of the “best and brightest” twisted minds that worked the Enron scam and portray how they slid on their bellies over to Wall Street because that’s where they were in demand. Also, he could nail some “whistle blowers” to a cross in a statement of what happens to American “losers” who don’t “get” what America is really all about.

whatever the story line, i want one really pissed off/ripped off victim to shoot gekko someplace
where he will bleed to death slowly….....and we
can all watch and find some satisfation in that slow
agony.(maybe he’ll see the light and ask for forgiveness - nahhhhhhhh)......since we weren’t allowed to enjoy ken lay
getting fried, or any of timmy’s lunch table pals to
at the very least go to the slammer….........

What Gekko did in the film is small potatoes compared to the current real life economic mess (e.g. mortgage backed securities, credit default swaps).

At the end of the film, Gekko was headed to the slammer so I wonder what the plot will be?
