‘Colbert’ Wins NASA Node-Naming Contest

Now what?: NASA has yet to confirm that the Node 3 space module in its international space station will indeed bear the name Colbert.

The problem with opening a decision to public input is that you could be stuck with a silly outcome, as NASA has learned after the word Colbert became the runaway winner in a contest to name a new room of NASA’s international space station.

Comedy Central Insider:

NASA’s mistake was allowing write-ins. Colbert urged viewers of his Comedy Central show, “The Colbert Report” to write in his name. And they complied, with 230,539 votes. That clobbered Serenity, one of the NASA choices, by more than 40,000 votes. Nearly 1.2 million votes were cast by the time the contest ended Friday.

Enough of the cynical Colbert PR campaign.”

By “Jon”?  Really?  ROTFL.

Colbert not only brings comedic genius to an otherwise unnoticed part of the space program (the general public doesn’t care too much about science, unfortunately) but also massive Media attention to NASA, which is something that should be *embraced* by the space agency for the sake of public interest.

Unfortunately, we need more citizens to support science, so looping-in the Colbert Nation would be a smart move.

Wouldn’t that be “vive l’Colbert”?  What other form would truth take in this era but “comedy”?  I’ve been saying for 40 years that America needed Will Rogers now more than ever.
Maybe NASA will name it after him, but if they don’t, he won’t be a cry-baby over it and will make it all acceptable because he’s got class.

Steven Colbert is funny and smart. He is also a very classy guy.  Count on him to have some funny face-saving way for NASA to handle this.  Remember that bridge?

I too am a proud supporter! I expected us to get more votes though.

Now if he can only start speaking up against illegal taxes and inhumane and illegal treatment of certain sectors of the American Public, we’ll have their balls in a vice from which they cannot squirm!

Viva La Colbert and supporters!

Enough of the cynical Colbert PR campaign.  He’s great on TV; I don’t want to see him on the NASA channel or on Mt. Rushmore or on the Amero-dollar.

I am a proud Colbert supporter, the most trusted man in News, besides Jon Stewart. This is one giant leap for truthiness.
