What’s Left of the Beatles Will Play for MeditationPosted on Mar 4, 2009
While the publicists have made it clear this isn’t a reunion, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will be playing the same charity event next month. The surviving Beatles will appear in support of eccentric filmmaker David Lynch’s foundation, which hopes to teach transcendental meditation to a million at-risk kids.

It’s great when big name artists help worthy charities. I went to the David Lynch Foundation website and was amazed at the videos of how Transcendental Meditation helps people from all walks of life. It makes me want to listen to these guy’s music just to support their generosity. This is going to be a great concert.

This will be a great show. The new documentary, SCHOOL OF THOUGHT, will show you why these music superstars are doing this benefit concert at Radio City. The film is about Transcendental Meditation in schools and what the David Lynch Foundation is doing to bring meditation to students everywhere. Only the Good Die Young- apparently also the talented.
Report thisRingo could never write, or play and Paul should have kept doing drugs. His song ‘Freedom’ only had One word, and one key!
Lennon was the only one who could write anything of significance and George was the only one who could play an instrument.
Waht is Pauls song going to be ‘Meeediiitaate, Meeediiitaaate’ while Ringo smashes around on the drum kit?
Like Neil Young Said “better to Burn out then fade away”...Hint it means if all else fails, at least have the common curtousy (or self respect) to fade away!

That’s the greatest album cover of all time.
Even with two of the Fabs missing.

When people experience a higher consciousness through meditation, drugs will lose their appeal. So if we can teach children to meditate, we will go a long way in shaping our future world. Meditation is a faculty that we all have, but transcends the senses. I’ve practiced TM for many years. Cheers

It’s great that Paul, Ringo, and David Lynch are doing this to help kids deal with stress. For me, Transcendental Meditation is a way to melt away stress and experience an inner calmness I never thought I had before. Check it out: http://www.mum.edu

Well that’s sad that you would say that. The sound of the Fugs isn’t clean and refined like the Beatles, they were a wild and passionate group and their sound reflects that. Although they can be a bit cacophonous, I find many of their songs beautiful and very subtle. And when they get heavier, they rock harder than the Beatles ever could. If you can’t listen to them for over a minute, that says more about your attention span then it does about the Fugs.

Thanks for letting us know about this very worthwhile concert. It’s great to hear that these great artists want to show their support for such a good cause. I practice Transcendental Meditation and so does most of my family, and I totally agree with Paul’s quote about the need to give children “a quiet haven in a not-so-quiet world”. Transcendental Meditation is a great technique and it would really help our children in school if they were given a chance to experience the deep silence and profound rest that it provides.

The Beatles are the most overrated band of the last century. I’ll admit, they had the ability to write some really catchy tunes, some of which I enjoy, but I feel there were far more interesting bands of the time that have been completely ignored.
One of the most original bands of the time were the anti-establishment-folk band The Fugs. You might of recently heard “CIA Man” during the credits of Burn After Reading. The Beatles were a safe band, the Fugs really made people question their reality and truly represented the turmoil of the times and they have never sold out.
