What’s a former secretary of state to do once her time in the White House runs out? In Condoleezza Rice’s case, the next step in the “reinvention and evolution” of her professional life involves signing on at the William Morris Agency, according to Variety.

Variety:

The agency said Rice will focus on books, lecture appearances, philanthropic activities and “new business initiatives in the media, sports and communications sectors.”

Rice will be represented by WMA chief Jim Wiatt and Wayne Kabak.

She should be reinvented straight into a war crimes trial and evolve as a criminal serving time for the rest of her life.

Too bad the 4236 American soldiers that have died in Iraq can’t reinvent themselves. Too bad the 317 coalition soldiers can evolve. Too bad the countless Iraqi and Afghan citizens slaughtered, displaced, starved and sickened by the policies she shaped, supported and lied to implement can’t “evolve and reinvent themselves”.

The fact that she will just walk away from this disaster that she has been a large part of is injustice at the highest level. Like the Nuremberg War Crimes trials, there is no punishment presently available that would be sufficient for what she has done. That doesn’t mean that she should just waltz off without suffering any consequences.

But she probably will.

hippy pam, since ThnkUBush would prefer to write about ignoring you, rather than answering your direct question, I can refer you to Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condoleeza_Rice

Condi is a product of the University of Denver, undergraduate and graduate, with a PhD in Political science from their Josef Korbel School of International Studies.  Before hooking up with the last President, she was Provost of Stanford University, where she rose through the ranks of the Political Science Department and the Hoover Institution.  Before the William Morris story broke, this quote from Wikipedia covered her thoughts about life after Bush:

During a farewell interview in early December 2008, Rice indicated she would return to Stanford and the Hoover Institution, “back west of the Mississippi where I belong”, but beyond writing and teaching did not specify what her role would be.

It is clear from these comments that many have other ideas about where she belongs!

hippy pam,

Insults are easy and cheap. Having something to say, or knowing when to keep to yourself, is worth a great deal more.

You should move on to someone else. You’re wasting your time trying to get my attention.

Good luck to you.

Thank you Dr. Rice for understanding the LIFG and Fatah al-Islam. You have indeed saved thousands, maybe even tens of thousands, of lives around the globe.

Thank you for working 18 hour days for almost the entire last decade. Your caring and quiet deliberations are a tremendous asset to the United States. I, for one, will never forget your sacrifices.

Thank you again so very much. You deserve the Medal of Freedom.

We can thank Speaker Pelosi and the DLC for Condi’s new career. Both are complicit in the dissonant national narrative that allows Condi Rice to imagine a further public career and a major ‘talent’ agency to touch her with a ten foot pole.

It’s been said umpteen times that the nation hadn’t the interest in impeachment, there wasn’t enough votes, there would have been a backlash against Democrats, etc.

But that never altered that Democrats had a duty, as yet unmet, to the truth - at very least, if they couldn’t have justice.

The ones with guts like Kucinich, Wexler et al should have been encouraged to create as big a stir as possible for the purpose of airing as much of the truth about the Bush administration as possible - so that it became part of the national dialog and consciousness.

If Pelosi had any salt and were not one of those ‘never break a sweat’ lawyer-types flowering her office, if she were a real Tip O’Neil, a politician not a figurehead, she would have taken on the managment of a bit of political theatre for that essential purpose, instead of her ‘leadership’ of a shameful weak-knee’d cowering - and complicitly silent - two-year stroll through the valley of political expediency.

The NeoCons should have been tarred and feathered by now. Legitimate and honorable rivals deserve respect; the miserable sociopaths - and the Republicans who sought to profit by their audacity - who would teach America that FDR exacerbated the Depression or that Vietnam was a winnable war should have been ground under heel.

Damn ‘tax cuts as part of the bail-out package’ and a ‘hand across the aisle’ to those who have shown not one wit of repentance. Not a single Republican. Not one wit. They will not repay the consideration given them, but will only use it to their advantage.

This behavior is an extension of a continuing pattern of Democratic Party cowardice and will lead to a resurgent Republican mess further down the road, and earlier on, will water down Obama’s effectiveness in answering to his mandate.

How was it that a president’s political action plan included war in Iraq sparked by an attack on American soil that was allowed to happen?

How did that president come to make a series of the most elemental failures of basic statesmanship, decisions leading to the supremacy of paranoia, falsity masquerading as legitimate politics - Orwellian lies as policy, a juvenile national narrative, removal of our rights, domestic spying, torture, extra-judicial kidnapping, black-site prisons, two failed wars and thousands of deaths - in our name?

Obama’s actions are not the airing of truth or the repudiation of lies - and it is truth loud and proud that will achieve the final measure of justice in the matters of our previous eight years.

Leave it to William Morris Agency, the once venerable cornerstone of the entire entertainment industry, the first step on the ladder to dozens of prodigious careers,  to stoop into the gutter and become worse than common bitch-slapping pimps.

WMA has signed a mass-murdering war criminal to their roster of talent. An evil neocon thug who lied to the American people to fake them into a vile war that cost the lives and limbs of tens of thousands of American soldiers and millions of Iraqis—all innocent.

Mushroom Cloud Rice should, for all intents and purposes, be incarcerated for her despicable crimes against humanity in a cave in the bowels of The Hague.

By way of association, William Morris Agency is now a facilitator of war crimes.

“The agency said Rice will focus on books, lecture appearances, philanthropic activities and new business initiatives in the media, sports and communications sectors.”

Philanthropic activities?

It must be a penance thing. A need to salve the soul. To silence that small inner voice. Or wash away the blood.

So many high profile conservatives do go philanthropic, you know, after they leave the damage they have done.

Then I listened to comments from some of her previous co-workers in the State Department [Wicked Witch of the West, no less] and now ... I think it’s simply the need to continue making obscene amounts of money for doing nothing.

That’s so republican. smile

Ms. Rice is surely in need of some reinvention - her tenure as secretary of state was an embarrassment (don’t even need to go to her time at NSC).
I am sure she is not nearly as dumb as she presents (but am willing to be convinced), but man she sure presents as one stupid, malevolent, whinging fool.

Condi’s only path to resurrecting her legacy and that of GW is to give Main Street and the world a first hand peek into the neocon stratagems as purported by VP Cheney and SecDef Rumsfeld. The sanctum of hubris and its inner circle needs to be exposed in order to preserve the sanctity of the constitution which they swore to protect.

Condo’s very first movie will be ‘Revenge of the Zombie Diplomats!’. A big budget “thriller” starring the Condo and Berto Gonzales. The script is being hashed up by Scoots Libby and production will begin just about after the Condo finishes up her testimony at the war crimes tribunal for Shotgun Cheney. Release of this block-buster movie event is set for the Spring pending the release of George Bush from Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary. You know, that “treason” conviction.
