It’s ‘Laura’—‘Mrs. Bush’ if You’re Nasty

Laura Bush
White House / Shealah Craighead

Americans have always preferred Laura Bush to her husband, and now Scribner, an imprint of a division of a subsidiary of Sumner Redstone’s National Amusements, is hoping to capitalize on that appeal with an “intimate” new memoir set for 2010 release. There’s no telling how much the better Bush is getting paid, but “millions” is a safe bet.

Hillary Clinton also published a memoir with Scribner, for which she was paid $8 million.

Update: Apparently, Mrs. Bush only got $1.6 million. Publishers, it seems, were unimpressed.

The Guardian:

Publishing house Scribner, of New York, today announced that it had inked a deal to publish Laura Bush’s memoirs, promising “an intimate account” of the first lady’s life, including her eight years in the White House.

The book is expected to reach shelves in 2010. Scribner, an imprint of CBS’s Simon & Schuster Inc, negotiated the deal with Robert Barnett, Bush’s lawyer.

Mrs. Bush’s only function was to be Georgie’s beard. To help with his macho-crappo image. We all know by now that a book deal is at most a trade on momentary fame and at worse a way to pay a bribe without putting cash in a brown bag.

Really, who cares? It will be in the discount bin a month after its release. Maybe sooner.

The Woman never did or said anything of value when she had the stage. So why would we want to hear her now?
Like her husband, she is the worst First Lady in History.
So, Who Cares?

If she wants George to read it, she won’t be using too many big words. It may even have illustrations.

Her dark, sordid past surely has affected her life even though it has rarely been reported in the press.

Laura and Eva Braun have a lot in common…they were both married (Eva for only a few hours) to warmongers who committed crimes agains humanity.

No, Laura Bush has sat on her ample ass making excuses for her criminal husband, while 150,000 families of our soldiers waited to hear word if their loved ones made it through the day.

F##k Laura Bush!

I have no respect for Laura Bush. In many pictures she is two feet behind George when walking across the lawn. The only time she is by his side is when George wants her for a photo-op.

The lady has never stood for anything. Never took up a cause, always stuck up for George on issue such as torture, spying, etc. Had the audacity to tell us he is a good president and history would prove that.

Show me one cause that Laura Bush fought for and I will not judge her so harshly. She claimed to believe in education and yet did little more than give a little lip service for that cause.

Sorry, but the person who feels the need to read a book written by Laura Bush must really have low self-esteem and not aware of all the wonderful women in our country doing great charity work while holding down full time jobs, as well as raising a family.

Won’t get a dollar of my money nor my time to read Laura’s garbage.

She was no Nancy Reagan, that’s for sure. But she did a poor job of covering for her dullard of a husband. She always struck me as the Pat Nixon type of First Lady. She never stood for anything. She never used the visibility of her position as First Lady to improve her image. While her husband is the disaster that we all now know him to be, she remains mediocre at best. She never made a name for herself. She is certainly not in the same league as Lady Bird Johnson, or even Hillary Clinton.

She may be considered the better part of w but her silence and noninterference of w & dick’s illegal administration does not pull her out of the cess pool she righfully inhabits. She is in the same boat as livni what’s her face and nancy pelosi, all three proving that women can be just as bad as any of the men in power, in support or actual power.
