Blagojevich Immortalized in Nude PaintingPosted on Dec 20, 2008
The good news for embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich in this report is that a Chicago artist is using the governor’s likeness as inspiration for his latest painting. The bad news: “Hot Rod” is depicted handcuffed, behind bars, and in the altogether—and the painting is called “The Cavity Search.”

I know that this funny piece is not strictly about Blago-gate (yes Pushka, the Democrats had their Gates too and will soon have one in their new cabinet) but I want to point to an issue that is not fully discussed anywhere to my knowledge. There are now reports coming out that the Obama team talked about their “acceptable candidates” for the Illinois Senate seat. If it turns out that that they used this language thatis almost as onerous as Blago’s threat to sell that seat. State Governments are greatly dependent on Federal kickbacks hence they want to be as much and often as possible on the right side of the occupant of the White House. A demand of “acceptable candidates” is therefore nothing less than a veiled threat “play our game now buddy or live with the consequences later”. I am certain that it will become known at some time soon, probably from the hearings of the Illinois Senate, or else during Blago’s defense against a near-certain indictment by Fitzgerald, exactly what Obama’s aides said to Blago or his representatives. It is unlikely to have been criminal but it is almost certain to be threatening given Emanuel’s reported character.

You forget Monica-Gate as it was for Bill Clinton. There have been lots of “gates”, on both the Dems and Republicans. I don’t know why that hasn’t been coined yet for this as with Blago’s name so much can be pulled just from that alone.

Why does nobody use the expression “Blago-gate”? Are “Gates” reserved for Republicans only?
