O’Reilly Leaving Radio to Focus on TV Show

Looks like Bill O’Reilly is preparing for the Obama era—he says he’s been working too many hours. Whatever the reason, the Fox News heavy is giving up his syndicated radio show to focus his energies on “The O’Reilly Factor.”

New York Daily News:

O’Reilly said the radio show, which he launched in May 2002, will end “in the first quarter of next year.” Most of the time he saves, he said, will go into his top-rated Fox News Channel show.

“The media business is getting more and more intense,” O’Reilly said Thursday. “We’ve got to keep the TV show at the level we have it now, and that means more and more time to keep it competitive and fresh. I’ve been working 60, 65 hours a week and I just can’t keep doing that.”

MaxVon:

I read, I re-read, I looked, I searched, I hunted but I could not find ONE fact in any of your 7 paragraphs that demonstrated a specific instance when the left-wing bloggers had it wrong about O’Reilly. NOT ONE.

Instead, all I read was the usual empty, right-wing chatter about the left-wing media, left-wingers towing the left-wing line, Utube, sound bites, etc. etc. etc.

Here are some FACTS about O’Reilly from a left-winger: ME….
1. “If the Americans go in and overthrow Saddam Hussein and it’s clean, he has nothing, I will apologize to the nation, and I will not trust the Bush Administration again, all right?” O’Reilly never truly apologized and he trusted Bush over and over and over again.
2. “58 percent of single-mom homes are on welfare.” O’Reilly was wrong. The figure is more like 14%.
3. Thanks to Jeb Bush’s ‘One Florida program,’ “37 percent of students at Florida universities were black.” O’Reilly was wrong. The figure was 18%.
4. When O’Reilly was bragging about our unmatchable generosity in foreign aid, it was pointed out by a guest on the panel that we rank below every EU nation in per capita aid. To that he retorted, “That’s not true.”  But it IS true. We rank below the least generous EU nation, Italy. We contribute 10 times less than Denmark, on a per capita basis.

The list goes on and on. There are a dozen sites out there with exhaustive lists of O’Reilly lies and distortions.

Fact: The guy is a hopeless spinner and liar.

I could not disagree more. Lets see where to start…..
#1 or #2 rated news talk radio show for several years Keith Olbermann come on get real with that huh!!!  Keith is just the left wing Rush… whom I don’t care much for.(Rush) just so you don’t get confused.

You folks need to spend more time getting your facts straight instead of towing the left-wing party line and listing to others. Don’t fall victim to what others think is true and fit to your own ideology. While I may not agree with all of his opinions on some issues, I can say that what he does for the folks are to be commended. When something comes out in the news, I don;t just take it verbatim from the source. I check out who is saying what, in most cases you will see that left-wing or liberal media will distort facts to fit their ideology and when called on it, don’t respond, only take you off in another direction to distract from the fact they in fact got it wrong and screwed it up. I have heard Bill on more than one occasion make a comment or get something not quite right and turn around and come out at say he screwed up…..but of course you would not know that because you never took the time to do the research. Tow the line. Don’t think. Believe others rather than check facts out for yourself. If you don’t read both sides of an issue, and skim off the crap that others use to mask their own agenda, I feel sorry for you. You will soon become one of the vast mindless numbers who take what they hear and read verbatim from those who push ideology as fact, if you get your info from only one source then the one source is who controls you. FOX news has a balance of both left wingers and right wing folks. I have seen some pretty heated debates going on there, most are very good at presenting both sides of an issue and getting things down to the brass tacks. Have you even bothered to look.  Oh… .sorry I forgot… UTUBE. That’s your expert source, very credible don’t you think… Funny but not real.

And your solution is “We must act to remove this obscenity from Television” ahhhh lets just pass a law banning others who speak what we don’t like to hear. When I see comments like this, it makes me afraid of what kind of education folks are getting now days…. BUT lets remember… …you only listen to the sound bites posted on UTUBE… this is where you get your opinions… you don’t’ think for yourself … whoahhhh this is really scary. Can’t wait for the next Hitler to arise, your mind will be his for sure.

Bill can be obnoxious and admits it freely and often, he has his opinions, and has the right to speak them, as we all are…. but to base your knowledge of the man on what others who dislike have said and distorted is pure crap… it makes your intelligence show and gives your debate about as much credence as some of the stuff that comes from Rush. IE your opinion is no longer relevant if it isn’t based on what you “FOUND” to be true, but what you had pushed into your grey matter by others. Think very hard about that statement, and where it comes from. Not just because I said it.

Go down to your local used book store, and spend a couple of bucks and pick up Bills “Whose looking out for you.” You may not agree with half of what he says… but boy you will learn something. Hopefully to think for yourselves and form your very own opinion on something other than UTUBE…. certainly your not afraid that your mind will be captured by the thoughts of someone you feel you despise may not like or don’t’ have a valid opinion on.

How can you logically discount something based on what you heard rather than what you know for yourself. Again SCARY!!!!

Final word…..  It’s OK to have opinions, but it isn’t OK to base them on what you don’t know or those of others, that you don’t know. Foolish is the man who lets fools guide his thoughts.

I could not agree more with the content of the first four posts, about the arrogance, hypocrisy and lies of Bill O’Reilly.

I hope that Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow of MSNBC will run Billo boy out of audience and in turn out of business.

Now,the Billo boy is getting out of radio talkshow.I hope next,he will get out of TV shows as well.

How does Bill O’Reilly’s programs, television or radio, possibly fall under the header of “art” or “culture”?

Mr. Bill O’Reilly, the neo-conservative, non-thinking, illogical and mean-spirited sociopath, wants to give up a revenue stream?  How’s that Bill? Do you mean to say that you are giving up money in your pocket for principled reasons?
I firmly believe that this crazed, screamer of an idiopathic lunatic, is without doubt the worst personage on the telly, and should he continue in the vein he is, will implode shortly. He cannot continue this kind of interviewing without some sort of repercussion.
It is to weep, that the Fox News Network is even on the air, they have to have a loudmouth, illogical idiot on the air such as BillO?  Is there nothing anyone can do to remove this irritation from the airwaves?  Surely there must be enough people who could boycott the sponsors of this bullshit to make a difference in the bottom line of the companies?
I would wholeheartedly agree with doing something to remove this obscenity from the television. We the people must act and quickly, for he is one of the irritating and irascible people that make me vomit when hearing him speak. Of course the other person, I should mention is Sean Hannity. Together these two tv personalities, make such an impression on me as to want to remove television from my home.
I personally do not listen to Bill O, other than the sound bites that are posted on YouTube or on this website. I cannot take much more than 5-10 minutes of this claptrap, before wanting to vomit.

Not pulling down the Revenue or numbers ah BillO?
Might as well said he wanted to spend more time with his family! About as convincing.
Rush better pick up the pace, otherwise he’ll end up with a tin can mic.
here’s a Helpful hint…Liberals actually do beleive in Redemption. We have all made mistakes, We all have the right to change our minds, to see things differently. In Fact We are often extremely interested in those who find ‘enlightenment’ of any sort (Religiously, Politically, Economically, Scientifically…).Even if we don’t always agree with the logic of the change. We wonder how average Chrisitans morph into End of Dayers- Fancinating revelation in human behavior if nothing else.Similar to studying what makes a sociopath tick. All Judgement Aside, Scientifically and intellectually worthy of inquistion.
So for those who move towards a less nefarious way of thinking, Great adualtions comes with the interest in the thinking process. What woke You Up? Probably closely related to the feelings ‘Faithfuls’ feel when someone finds Faith. Or AA Members feel listening to others stories which brought them towards recovery.
Don’t be the Talk Show equivolent to GM, which not only short changes you ‘customers’, but your Long term Survival, Move now to catch the wave of this new era. Why is it a Newcomer to Cable like Rachel Maddow can rate in the top 3-4 and she’s only been on for about 12 weeks? Play the Political “I’ve come to Jesus” and ride the wave into your careers future. Otherwise you are just picking at a spoiled, ravaged dead carcass professionally.
Do it slow and you will wither on the vine before anyone hears you.
Do it quick, and it will hurt less and it will be such a Shock people will have to see what the hell has happened to you. You’d have so many other Talk shows squawking and pondering you ‘air time’ would skyrocket. And that what your in it for right Boys?
Otherwise Bill & Rush, You are Like Vaudeville Act in the era of Digital graphics.
Maybe you guys need new Agents to assure your shows see next year.

Concentrate on keeping “the TV show at the level we have it now”? More like try to save himself from his air-time rival, Keith Olbermann, who is an informed non-psycho gentleman. All things Mr. O’Reilly certainly is not.

We don’t need more vitriol to get through the approaching huge problems. Do us all a favor and just take your money go away, Mr. O’Reilly.
