FCC Still Obsessed With Janet Jackson’s Nipple SlipPosted on Nov 21, 2008
Now, this is just getting weird: Nearly five years after the shocking (!) “wardrobe malfunction” that shamed exposed nipple owner Janet Jackson and seared the tender eyeballs of select members of the federal government, the FCC is soldiering on in its quest to slap offending network CBS with a $550,000 fine, thus ensuring that the appalling incident lingers that much longer in the public consciousness.

Quote: “Look folks, we need censorship on TV. There are a lot of irresponsible people out there, not to mention incompetent materials and prop handlers whose ineptness might make it possible for us to see all kinds of lewd things on TV.”
No, you idiot. We don’t need censorship on t.v. Censorship was never about stopping people from seeing something they don’t want to. If it were, then the power to censor would be in the hands of the individual viewer, not the government. Think about adding your own custom t.v. filter rather than having someone else’s jammed down your throat.
No one has ever died from seeing a nipple or a penis. If you have time to worry about that, then your life is pretty damn easy. Image if you were one of the innocent people, like this 14-year-old boy http://tinyurl.com/7567wf, who was falsely imprisoned and tortured for years by our benevolent government. Now that’s offensive.
New rule: Anyone who complains about the content of any media being offensive or lewd no longer gets to use any media. No tv, radio, Internet, etc. for those people. And if they complain, tell them it’s for their own good.
Also, if we’re censoring offense material, let’s start with the bible. That sack of crap has been offending me for years.

You all forgot the most important issue: breastfeeding and erotism.
Report thisIt is a well-established fact that breastfeeding is an erotic experience for most women. Like that or not, many scientific studies have established that in the past.
But AAARRGGHH ! An erotic experience involving a small child ! This is totally unacceptable !
All women who breastfeed ought to be imprisoned for life on the grounds of child abuse !
Breastfeeding must be made totally illegal !
All breasts to be amputated !
Protect the children ! Have you got any idea to what extent a little baby will be emotionally damaged and scarred for life by having had, not only to see but also to suck on a grown woman’s nipples ?
Will Obama Bin Laden make the burka mandatory in the US ?
Ridiculous ? I don’t think so. Just wait and see what may happen in the near future.
And don’t forget that you actually voted for the morons that govern you.

I second msgmi’s characterization of the FCC as a rudderless ship, and find it hilarious that Janet Jackson’s undistinguished nipple has become, in the eyes of its hapless crew, its Polaris, aka North(ern) Star, by which to steer.

The FCC is a rudderless ship in a flotilla of idealogue run agencies skippered by sycophant bureaucrats. It has lost its compass by resurrecting the Jackson nipple. If Jackson’s nipple is that important, it may suggest that the FCC hunchos have been overwhelmed with wet dreams.

Don’t you find it weird that everyone, women included, can go topless in Europe while it’s against the law in the US? Here even breastfeeding mothers must hide in shame when feeding their babies. How different is that from forcing women to hide their faces?
There was a time when men were not supposed to be topless at the beach (just look at old photographs of men in their bathing suits!). And why are men now allowed to show their nipples in public but women are not?
A nipple is a nipple is a nipple….

Hey, what about all those “Girls Gone Wild” tapes/DVDs they advertise all the time? They may not show nipples on TV, they blank that part out, but they leave little else to the imagination. And the ones with 2 females getting it on are totally offensive, but they haven’t been banned either.
There are more important things that could and should be looked into, but it is just easier for them to go after something that happened years ago.

That we’re even having this conversation on Janet Jackson’s breast speaks volumes about our infantile society. We have some serious issues to face.
1. Sexually Repressed. As a nation, we haven’t yet shaken our Victorian-Age/Salem-Witch-Hunt outlook on sex. Sex is the forbidden fruit. It’s tantalizing but it’s the work of Satan. We may pretend we’re liberated but we’re still tied to our backward legacy.
2. Hypocrisy. As a nation, we’re hypocrites. Oh, we can talk about sex (just about every sitcom on TV is dripping with it) but we can’t SHOW it. We can make jokes about it and even run prime-time ads promoting sexual prowess (“if your erection lasts longer than 4 hours, consult with your health professional.”), but we don’t dare SHOW that erection.
3. Our nation’s priorities are screwed up. We’ve killed 4.200 of our soldiers and god knows how many thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens in an illegal war that didn’t have to happen. We have millions going to bed hungry, we have record deficits, record home foreclosures, a shattered health care system, crumbling infrastructure, and we’re worried about the impact a wardrobe malfunction will have on our children?
Report thisRight now AOL has a lead story on Obama skipping out on church and going to the gym instead. Here’s a man who from the start was against the killing of thousands of troops and Iraqi citizens and people are questioning his morals because he hasn’t attended church? Geeezzz, peeps. It’s the 18th century all over again.

The FCC was suppose to ensure that the electromagnetic spectrum was used to its fullest potential providing the maximum gain for citizens. It has failed at this task.
Under the FCC, we had wasteful analog signals for about a century. Without the FCC, we would have had digital tv and radio and 1000 times as many channels back in 1980. The FCC held back the most efficient use the the em spectrum.
Furthermore, the government should have NO say whatsoever in censuring any media. It’s a clear violation of the first amendment.
The people who are trying to “keep the airwaves clean” aren’t actually trying to make sure THEY don’t hear a dirty word or image. They are trying to make sure YOU don’t. They could always switch the channel or choose not to patronize content they don’t like. They’re agenda is to make sure YOU don’t have the same choice.
You know, I find religion offensive. So many people have been tortured and killed over Christianity. Perhaps we should ban all those Christian channels so as not to offend me.

When you turn on your TV to see a ball game but you see a nipple instead, that’s not good. Who knows what you might see on any kind of program if you see a nipple on football. Why, you might see a dick on that Crystal Catheadral show on Sunday am.
Look folks, we need censorship on TV. There are a lot of irresponsible people out there, not to mention incompetent materials and prop handlers whose ineptness might make it possible for us to see all kinds of lewd things on TV.
As for me, I can’t get my mind around why two people have to be standing up there titillating millions of people with sex-suggestive noise, anyway. Why does music, if you want to call it music, have to be so steeped in sex? If you have to have a half-time show, why does it have to be sex? How does it go from football to sex? If you want to have sex, then why beat around the fucking bush? Just have the gd sex and get it over with. They’re up there “singing” about sex and even showing a nipple, the audience knows it’s about sex, but you can’t have the sex. Just a nipple. What are we, masochists? What’s wrong with us? Don’t we have anything at all better to do with our time?
You listen to pop music and it’s all about how he hurt her, she dumped him, he doesn’t know when he’s going to get laid again, she’s full of heart-ache, he’s getting it on with someone else, etc., etc., and effing etc. We’re unbelieveably single-minded.
Then, the effing FCC can’t let it go.
Hey, FCC, stop the food ads on TV that are making our kids fat and sick!!!!!!!

No body sees the obvious and this jj nipple flash is just a small look at the influence of the religious freak’s fears and prejudices in how someone else thinks all people should live. It has huge and devestating effects on this country and plays a big part in the backward motion our country takes in educating the people.
Report thisI would say that, no people just can’t be allowed to walk around with no clothes displaying and causing a constant state of arousal, because being sex, and I think this would be funny, just about everybody would be performing sex and nothing else would get done. But, trying to cover up sexual displays has its own way of creating adverse conditions.
In short, this is an extreme waste of the FCC’s time and the people’s also. There are way too many important and real issues for the FCC to tackle and as I mentioned in an earlier comment here, breaking up the conservative media hold on the msm, where most people get their information(tv, radio, newspapers, magazines), is their number one priority in my eyes. This ownership by just 4 or 5 owners is totally undemocratic for this republic.

When I thought I heard it all, I keep getting shocks about our system! Is the FCC Agency a moral police entity?! If Janet Jackson was hurt as a result of her nipple’s exposure, isn’t she the one who should be suing CBS?
Then what is big and abnormal about a nipple’s exposure in a culture where 5-years old have seen such things in magazines, the internet and possibly in person. This is also a culture where the lives of celebrities is legitimately pursued as part of the entertainment business, and there nothing more entertaining than seeing a nipple exposed during a Superbowl game!
In fact, I would consider this a piece of unique art where the camera can shift from the rough scene of players shoving each others to the delicate and romantic scene of a nipple’s exposure! This is indeed a unique shot for which CBS should receive an award, not be fined!
If this would have happened in a country like Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan, then we would understand why a large number of people would be scandalized! But in America?! In fact, I am scandalized that a government agency is pursuing such frivolous affair after four years of its happening. Another indication that America is moving backwards when the whole world are trying to move forward!

A BREAST ???!!! EEEEEEwwwww!
If I see one it’ll probably hurt my heterosexual marriage and forever damn my heterosexual offspring into a heterosexual lifestyle. Really?
Ask the censors in the Christian Far-Right where Jesus our Saviour, the Christ Child, the Lamb, would have been had he not been suckled at Mary’s breast?
Now if we could censor bad taste for exploiting the breast at a sporting event, or advertising Viagra to shriveled, flaccid old men on the national airways, I’d be all for it. “Ask your doctor if Cialis is right for you” ...
Could we punish prominent people for committing grammatical mayhem ... such as ... ” .. to my wife and I”” ... or saying “new-ku-lar”. Capital crimes, all.
I’m an old curmudgeon who thinks breasts are beautiful and essential to the survival of all mankind. Censor breasts and you deny our mammalian nature and the nurture of tiny children.

What a waste of taxpayers money. Have these morons from the FCC never seen some of the documentaries from other countries that not only show women with bare breasts often sitting in public on the streets, some are breastfeeding also,(wow a bad thing right) children often run around totally nude in some countries and no one is making a circus out of it. America and its people have a childish attitude toward the human body and sex. It is time for these narrow people to grow up.
These same judgmental people should ask themselves if they believe in God and if everything that their God created is good? Well according to God, this is the way women were designed, so it could not be bad now could it? Get over it, or do these prudes suffer from breast envy?
I have seen members of the male gender who have much larger “breasts” than many women, who go without shirts in the hotter weather, yet I have not heard of anyone complaining about them. Some are downright gross. And many of these men have bigger ones than Janet Jackson.
Why not go after all these male enhancement ads on TV. I had the TV on the other night and every 5 minutes there was at least one of these ads on. Usually 2 ads per commercial break for these products. It went past the obsession point of being disgusting.

This is all fine with me. I hope that the FCC continues to restrict what is aired on television to the point that it makes broadcast television as we know it obsolete. The answer is the internet. More and more networks are airing the majority of their shows on the web, even collectively under one site (ie: hulu). It’s only a matter of time before they find an advertising matrix that makes the web more profitable than what nrobi called a puritanical and prudish system we are currently engulfed in. If we all collectively throw our digital cable boxes into boston harbor we may all be able to watch things as they were intended, rather than how the lawyers translate them. I’ll get off my soap box now.

Could the FCC be hoping to get a negative reaction from the public? They have done little if anything for way to long to protect those of us who don’t need sex, violence, drugs and self importance to lead a happy life. Now they have chosen to make an example of onscreen sexuality using one of the tamest situations our kids are being assaulted with. There is much worse filth hitting our prime time shows right now, where young impressionable minds are assaulted by glorified sexuality and violence that they’re not capable of assimilating properly.
No wonder we have so much sexual activity among teens and even grade school kids. No wonder kids are murdering their parents and classmates.
When armies use violent video games to dull soldiers to killing the enemy, why would it have any different effect your kids? If parents don’t or won’t protect their kids from this mind-altering trash, then those of us who care are forced to ask the government to intervene. We’re not asking them to stop the making of these forms of mindless entertainment, we just want to know that it’s not being force fed to our kids through movies, TV and yes, even music during prime time.
It just breaks my heart to see so many people defending casual sex and violence. The only ones that “profit” from this are the peddlers of the goods that glorify sex and violence. Casual sex leads to disease, infidelity, heartache and more. Violence always leads to pain (emotionally and physically) and often death. So where’s the good in this????? Your right to view this is not in jeopardy.. as long as our kids don’t have to see it. Just don’t tell me that fining a company or person for allowing filth to be shown to our kids is wrong. If there is no consequence for a wrong action, then there is no incentive to change that action. Unfortunately, most big corporations only understand dollar signs.. ergo the fine!
We need to stop and “ask ourselves” WHY the media is overloading our minds with images of sex and violence! This isn’t entertainment, it’s brainwashing us into “mindless parrots” of their doctrines of lust, hate and confusion. Why do the men and women behind this media blitz want to see us all ‘turn on each other’? Why is it that the ones defending the sex, violence and dumbing down of our minds are so hostile and violent themselves?
If someone doesn’t take a stand to protect our sons, daughters, grandkids, nieces, nephews, etc. then we have no one to blame but ourselves when they turn on us, or commit suicide (which is way up in teens), or die from avoidable diseases, or turn to drugs to numb themselves, or end up as just another statistic in prison.
DON’T BUY THE LIE! We do not need an unending infusion of sex, violence, drugs or self importance in order to live a happy life. Let’s bring beauty, caring, hope, joy, forgiveness and God back into our lives.
Always remember this reliable truth….. “Garbage in produces garbage out.”.
If your mind is filled with hate, violence, sex (not love) and other evil things, then there is no room for love, forgiveness, hope, joy, peace and grace.
Report thisI guarantee that you will finally know a “good” life when you make the “choice” to swap out the bad for the good….. and then follow through with it.

And the Shrub’s appointees soldier on! What in the name of all that is normal and holy is the FCC fighting about? A total of nine-sixteenths of a second when Janet Jackson’s nipple was exposed.
Report thisAre these people for real? Do abnormal people sit on the board of the FCC?
This country has the moral attitude of Puritanical and prudish behaviour when it comes to the human body and of course, sexuality and sex.
Broadcasters are now self-censoring their programs, in an effort to avoid the wrath of the FCC, especially when it comes to the areas of LGBT thoughts and especially comedic series that show LGBT
lifestyles in an everyday normal light.
How in the world are people supposed to learn that there are other people than themselves who don’t hold to the values system, of 60 years ago, if not on the Television? Where will these puritanical, prudish people supposed to be exposed to different ideas? Most if not all, of the people I know who hold these beliefs are hiding their collective heads and asses in the sand, hoping that someone will come along and liberate the world from “indecency, immorality, spurious displays of sexuality, and other assorted and sordid things.
If people truly want to live that kind of lifestyle, hidden from the world in their own homes, then more power to them, just do not force that viewpoint on me, do not control my portion of the airwaves in an attempt to set your decency standards above the normal people in this country.
